    Soldier captured

    Just on the wire services:

    An American soldier has been captured by insurgents in eastern Afghanistan. That's according to a U-S military spokeswoman, who says the soldier has been missing since Tuesday.

    The soldier's name has not been released. The spokeswoman said the military was quote "using all our resources to find him and provide for his safe return."

    The soldier was *not* taking part in a major military operation that's been launched in southern Afghanistan. Rright now, nearly four-thousand U-S Marines are going after insurgents against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

    The lower Helmand River Valley is largely in the hands of the Taliban and the Marines said they'll stay in the area and "hold and build" security there.

    One Marine officer said it was the largest Marine offensive since Vietnam...and the first offensive of President Obama's administration.

    if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('
    ');if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']){ document.write(plpm['Mid-Story Ad']);} else { if(self['plurp'] && plurp['97']){} else {document.write(''); } }if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('
    ');
    Semper Fi, all.
