    September Book Club

August's book was a little challenging! There was also really no discussion, which was fine, but I think having some sort of discussion would be cool.

Septembers book choice is "Extremely loud and incredibly close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. so make sure you get your books!

Courtney made a great suggestion to get discussions going " I think someone needs to be designated to either find "study" questions online about the book. Like, "What do you think is the idea behind such-and-such" "Do you agree with such-and-such's decision?" and make a post about it. That way everyone can discuss in their own time :)"

This is an awesome idea, so everyone look for some questions. We can also split the book up according to week, so no one will spoil it for slower readers.

Please share any Ideas for Octobers book choice.

    Re: September Book Club

Just ordered the book for Sept. Hopefully I'll get it soon.

I have a book suggestion for October...I don't know if anyone's heard of this book, but it's called Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I read the back of the book together with the Author's note, and it piqued my interest. Just wondering if anyone else has read/heard of it. I heard it was good, but I have yet to read it.

:/  I was supposed to read Life of Pi for my Freshmen Orientation-ish class and I managed to get through the discussions without reading any of it.  It just never appealed to me and was glad I didn't read it.  :/

I read Life of Pi my Junior year of HS. It was a really good book, worth reading.

Haha! I've done that a couple of times. I was just curious about the book and wondering if it was worth reading.  With the schedule I have at work and school, I'm hoping to squeeze some time for the September Book Club.

I am new to this board, but I spend 2 hours each day commuting on the train so I do tons of reading.... How do I get involved in this book club ?

Unfortunately, we haven't been very good at organizing this...it doesn't seem to ever get farther than assigning a book.

September's book was "Extrememly Loud & Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foers...I read it...(we never discussed it though)...but couldn't wait to be finished with it.  I felt like I had climbed Mt. Everest when I read the last page, lol.  It just wasn't my kinda book and was really hard to follow.

Not sure if a book was ever decided for October.

Have any of you read "The Kite Runner" ? It is an awesome book and very easy to follow. Maybe y'all can use it as the October book?!

Well since it's the talk of the board, why not Twilight?

Twilight is a wonderful Idea, but I think a lot of the girls have read the book alredy. I've heard of The Kite Runner before, that sounds very interesting as well.
