4th of July... Marines STILL have fun, even decades after service :)
I wanted to share a few photos from the 4th of July parade over here in Antioch Illinois. These are all members of Marine Corps League detatchment 801. They motivate me, and I hope they can put a smile in your guys' faces with how they're still having a great time together. The brotherhood lives! (Oh and you can see me in my Blues. I came to help out my Grandpa)
My Granddad and the guys teaching me how to do inspection arms with the M1! They had me talk to the young Marines to motivate them. But they motivated me! Look at them, at Parade Rest and everything! Having a few after the parade.
This lady was a World War II Marine! She was such an awesome lady. Just proof that the SISTERHOOD lives too! And that's my Granddad on the left by me.

Nice pictures - thanks for posting. I'm sure Grandpa cautioned you about "M1-thumb!"

Janice, I thought your pictures of you and the guys was very cool. Your grandad looks like a great guy, who should be very proud of his grandaughter. I am also a little remiss that I don't live in a small town where they have parades like that. I always thought that would be great. Thanks for posting. You look very sharp and squared away in your blues.
Jimmy Mac, when are you comin back?

Dosrios:Nice pictures - thanks for posting. I'm sure Grandpa cautioned you about "M1-thumb!" The guys wouldnt even let me release the bolt! Haha. They let me pull it back but then when it got to that part they'd take it back. Didn't want me to ruin my gloves :) And thank you. It was my first time wearing my blues and I'm glad I didn't mess it up, haha!

Outstanding! As a YM adult I can tell you the kids are always glad when a "real" (as opposed to us ole pharts) Marine speaks with them. The Fourth gets a little more precious with your service doesn't it?

Great pics. I hope our 1yr old MCL detachment is soon taking part in things like that.
That one pic, of after the parade, seems to illustrate a truth about many Marines I know.
Work them hard, but after just give them beer and a cigar and they are happy

Janice was one of our wannabees from the board. Janice, you not only made your Grandpa proud but us as well. Well done, Marine.
