    Pet Peeves

We've been filling out a lot of forms and paperwork for our apartment lately and I've discovered a new pet peeve I have. I HATE when people spell my name wrong. I know Meghan can be spelled about 200 different ways, but if you aren't sure, ask! I have gotten so many papers back with "Megan" on them and for some reason it drives me nuts!

Also, it annoys me when people can't spell. Your, you're, their, they're, there...they all have different meanings and if you don't know them..learn them! It just makes people look ignorant and uneducated when they mix them up and I want to just explain that to them.

LOL, sorry for being so negative it was just driving me nuts today! What other pet peeves do you ladies have?? I know we've done this before, but there are a lot of new ladies who need to share!

Oh my!!! I have way too many.

I hate the stupid turn signal left on for miles and miles. Also, when it's not used at all.

I'm having a brain fart so I can't think of the others, but there are tons and tons. Probably a good thing I can't remember or I'd be here all night.

Me too!  My name is Karin with an I.  Not an E.  It's not that hard. Stick out tongue

My big thing is smacking.  When people chew their gum like a cow or especially food.  I cannot STAND it when people chew their food with their mouth open.  I HATE listening to people eat.  Especially when they're REALLY enjoying their food.

    - When people do not signal

This is going to sound strange but I can get REALLY annoyed if people say meijer'S instead of meijer. There is no S at the end, so why add one?? lol random I know.

A pet peeve I have is when people are sick and they sniffle constantly instead of blowing their noses. It drives me crazy! Especially when I am in school and we are taking a test. I know it sucks to be sick and to contstantly be blowing your nose, but it is just gross if the person does not blow their nose.

I agree with Meghan, it also annoys me when people do not know how to use the correct spelling of the different words.

I know there are others...but I cannot think of them at the moment

    Re: Pet Peeves

Haha I have too many to list. I am a nit-picky person, but I am trying to work on it!!! The main ones are smacking, dishes in the sink, clothes or shoes on the floor- basically I am a NEAT FREAK- so anything out of place bugs the heck out of me like it a coffee table is not perfectly centered and straight- things like that. I stayed with my grandmother a lot growing up and her house is perfect- nothing out of place, it looks like something out of a magazine so that is where I get it. I can't stand for the toilet paper to be placed with the toilet paper coming from the bottom, mine has to come over the top, my shower curtain has to be pulled, it can't stay open and my closet door has to be shut. I can't stand looking at clutter or junk. I think I seriously am OCD about certain things especially when it comes to house keeping.

     My pet peeves are:

Picking nails, biting nails, spelling my name wrong [Allison or Allie] I understand there other variations like Alison, but I have never seen Alicine, shaking of the leg when sitting down, dirty floor, people who can't spell [I know I've had a couple of type-o's but seriously I try to correct it], and I can't really think of anything else right now, lol.

Me too!!! I am the same way about Illinois too. There is no S sound at the end! LOL, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I hate mispronounced words and people who don't use their turn signals too! The sniffling thing is annoying too. I also can't stand when people don't hold the door for you, and just let it slam in your face. SO rude! Maybe this is more than a pet peeve, but it drives me crazy when little teenage white girls feel the need to talk like rappers and call each other b!tches.

    Re: Pet Peeves

One pet peeve that drives me crazy is when someone gets ice from the ice cube tray and puts it back with like one or two cubes in it.......

Or someone uses up the last of the toilet paper and doesn't replace the roll.....

And speaking of spelling your name wrong... peeps always getting our last name wrong....(don't think I'm allowed to put it on here...but it's spelt with an N and peeps always put R..... )

Can't think of any more at the moment.... had a long day and my brain is fried!

Ok so I'm right with you on the correct spelling or usage of a word. Their, there, they're, to, too, etc - The only person I don't usually feel like smacking when this happens is Matthew. Also I'm the correct english nazi, on things like "ain't" it is not a word!!!

Not using your blinker will get more than a mild response from me, especially if it puts myself or my family/friends in danger.

People who talk with their mouth full - GROSS! Chew, swallow, and then speak.

"Older" individuals who act like because they've made it to a ripe old age, they have the right to speak to anyone however they feel. Its rude and disrespectful, and I can say with certainty that if I shared half of the things in my head my own mother would smack the heck out of me!

People who refuse to parent their children. YOU are the parent, YOU set the rules, the CHILD must follow said rules. Not the other way around.

And up here in Alaska - the girls who try to sympathize with having their husbands gone... But the only problem is the fact that their man is gone for 2 weeks, and then home for 2 weeks. And the 2 weeks that he's at home NO WORK!!! So don't compare that to a freaking deployment!!! (sorry I'll pull back on that anger there...)

Pet peeve: people that call me Caroline instead of Carolyn and whine about how difficult it is to remember Carolyn.  Well, they are just going to have to get over that.

Loud eating is another pet peeve.  I can't listen to all the smacking and drink-slurping.

That brings me to another one: you know all those radio commercials for soda, beer, or whatever?  Well, I do not think the sound of a drink being poured on the radio sounds refreshing, I think it sounds like someone is peeing in the toilet.  It does not bother me in real life at all, in fact, I have never noticed it.  It's just something about hearing it on the radio that annoys me.  Weird, I know.

It really gets to me too when the parents don't discipline the children and let the children make the decisions.  The grammer issues bother me too.

When I instant message people and they don't respond is one of my minor pet peeves.

One of the worst is when people come to me for advice and I give it to them and they don't use it!  Then they keep coming back to me asking how to fix their same problems and nothing ever gets solved!

It also bothers me when people don't understand my relationship and what deployment is like.  Some people even go as far as saying, "why don't you get rid of him and get a guy that's close by?" like I'm supposed to just forget about him while he's away that really drives me insane!

I think that's all I can think of for now.

    Re: Pet Peeves

Grammar is a major one for me too. I'm constantly correcting my sisters and they hate me for it. But since I've moved back, I've noticed myself slipping up and saying "you was" instead of "you were" and I almost instantly fix it. To me, it shows a lack of intelligence. Not that I'm ashamed of where I'm from, but I don't want people to think of me as an ingorant hilbilly.

Another thing that bugs the living CRAP out of me is if people don't turn the light off after they leave the room. Posey's sister is so bad for leaving the bathroom light on of a night and even though I keep my door closed, I can see it through the crack at the bottom and it kills me. She goes into her room and closes the door so it's not like she's leaving it on for a night light. And here my fat pregnant butt is getting up out of bed all hours of the night to turn it off.

I hate when people smack their gum too. I occasionally do it if I first start chewing the gum but no more than a couple of minutes.

I hate when people leave empty cases of pop in the fridge. Posey was really bad at doing it. He'd take the last pop and not throw away the case. Ugh! lol.

It's not a pet peeve, I just hate the sound of is clipping fingernails. It drives me crazy.

When people spell congraTulations with a D. Okay--it's only cute when someone is graduating and you can be clever...not ALL the time! Hallmark does not need to take over your life!!

Wet bathroom floors skeeve me out really bad, and Jon drips about 5 gallons on the floor!!

When I am out somewhere with someone and they wander off & I spend the time I should be spending shopping/enjoying what ever we are doing looking for them forever.

Shoddy customer service. I freak out on people sometimes.

"Said preacher maybe you didn`t see me throw an extra twenty in the plate, there`s one for everything I did last night and one to get me through today"

OMG. I cannooottttt deal with the sniffling, flem rattling, etc. It makes me physically sick. Either blow your nose or just sit there and suffer. I can't deal with the inbetween crap. And yes, when its supposed to be "YOU'RE" and someone spells it "YOUR" and/or "THEIR/THERE" instead of "THEY'RE"... eek. Makes me crazy.

A huge one is when your in the movies or even at home and trying to watch something, and someone is totally ruffling their bag of food making tons of noise.

Cracking your knuckels, neck, etc.... Cannot stand this.

    Re: Pet Peeves

I too hate older people that think cuz they've been around and have seen it all they can just be rude and nasty and get a way with it!  UGH!

It peeves me when the toilet paper isn't flowing downwards...drives me nuts and if i can change it say in a public restroom i do!  LOL!

It peeves me when people put there whole plate in the sink and there is still food on it!  UGH, just scrap it off in the trash!

It peeves me when people don't pick up after there dogs!  Especially when our apartment complex provides poopy bags!

It peeves me when people put there kids in "time out" and its up in their room!  H-E-L-L-O?!

Gary does this all the time: he will dry his hands on the dish towel and then throw it on the stove or counter...no, no, no it goes back on the stove handle!  UGH!

I have more but i'm having a brain fart!

    • At the store when a cashier opens a new lane and says that they can help the next person in line and some jerk from the very back of one of the lines runs over like they are the next person.
    • When I get a drink at a fast food place to go and they spilled liquid all over the outside of the cup and do not wipe it before giving it to me.
    • When someone takes my parking spot even though I was clearly sitting there with my turn signal on (I get very hostile about this and the person usually ends up moving for fear of what I threaten to do to their car while they are in the store...obviously an empty threat but they don't know that Devil)
    • When people tell me that I look tired
    • Cold french fries
    • When someone is turning right onto a road pulls out in front of me when no one is behind me and then drives slower than I was forcing me to pass them.
    • When clothes hangers are not all facing the back of the closet
    • When servers at restaurants bend down, pull up a chair, or worse sit down at the table while taking my order.
    • When people answer their cell phone in a movie theater and whisper.
    • This is my worst: I live in a fairly large city and often drive downtown for work.  I hate hate hate when people ride their bikes in a car lane.  I am all for alternative transportation, but during rush hour, it is a safety and traffic hazard!  Most of them do not think that traffic laws apply to them, and they will not move over far enough for cars to get around them thereby holding up traffic and causing people to cut over into other lanes.  It is even worse when they are peddaling along casually...if they are going to be out with the cars then the least they can do is peddle as fast as their legs will go!

Heh I must be a negative person, cause I love pet peeve posts lol!!!

    I'm gonna add mine = )

Going with the name thing, I hate when people assume my name is Allison. Then they just can't believe my name is just Alice. They ask like 20 times "really?" over and over. Gah!

And with the spelling/ speaking issues, I hate when people put an extra -ed on words. Like they say "liked-ed" that drives me insane!!!

I hate when people don't put things back where they belong (Jimmy!!!)

Oh and when people park crooked next to my car or too close to my car. I usually curse and yell about it and triple check that they didn't hit my car.

When people race up to red lights. It irks me lol!

Lastly (at least for this post!) I like to leave a nice driving distance between my car and the one in front of me, especially if we are going fast. I really hate when people squeeze their cars into that space and then we are bumper to bumper. Haven't they ever seen pile ups?!? You need that extra space so if the car in front of you stops short, you don't ram it!!! Agh they drive me crazy!

I could go on all day haha...

    xo Alice
