From Michelle (Golddigger)
Hello Larry and all you great Marines,
Michelle DellaFave here from The Golddiggers and Dingalings,
I am so blown away from my Rolling Thunder Memorial Day experience that I suppose it will be days before I recoup. First of all seeing all the Vietnam Vets and the awesome motor cycles, back in Washington DC, then having Larry say he remembered me after all these years, wow… from the time he very gallantly helped me out of a chopper after we visited a hospital in Vietnam. I remember the hospital and our rides on the big helicopters. I remember how we had some great guys escort us to safety… there was Larry… he even kept the picture all these years. I was so touched and so happy I could finally sign it. Pauline Antony, another Golddigger from England signed as well. What a sweet and dear guy.
I was very honored the Marines asked me to carry the wreath to the Wall. My two trips with Bob Hope to entertain on his Christmas tours are great memories, but to help carry the wreath is an honor so very special to me, it is something I will never forget. I was so happy I could serve in some way other than sing and dance. I met the color guard and they are outstanding young men, and the bag pipers who played “Amazing Grace,” so beautifully… and then the sound of taps… when a powerful memory etched in my mind. I will cherish it forever. If anyone ever gets to the VA hospital in Washington DC please say hello to a young man, 24, who has brain trauma from an injury. I pray he will improve every day. His name, John Lake. I met him when Lindsay Bloom and I as “Blue Eyed Soul,” did a show there. My very special soldier. If anyone sees him tell him Michelle is thinking of him and praying everyday for his total healing.
May God bless you all and GOD BLESS AMERICA… Michelle

Fellow Gritsters
I did not post the above for vanity, I posted it to show what a class act the lady was and is to this day.

Re: From Michelle (Golddigger)
No Sweat, Brother Larry. I'm sure everyone understands.
That is one sweet lady, and I'm going to tell her that. I don't know anything about her, but I hope her life hasn't been in a limbo all these years, until she made her appearance at The Wall. No one responded to my queery about her having any connections with Ann Margaret, but those 2 ladies had to have crossed paths in the past.

Larry, your reason for posting her message matters not. It is simply outstanding.

A true beauty in every sense of the word. God bless her, and God bless all the other Golddiggers wherever they are. Semper Fi, ladies.

Re: From Michelle (Golddigger)
After going to her wedsite, I really do remember who she is.
The Dean Martin Show with the Golddiggers was a ritual every Wednesday night, between Father and Son, it was a bonding thing, this was way before the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.......Michelle was the prettiest. In the school yard the next morning, we repeated all of Martin's one liners and talked about the Golddiggers and what they wore, back then it was risque stuff. (We were in the 5th grade or so!)

Michelle and Lindsay entertaining the troops at the VA hospital. This pic is smaller than the others for some reason. I uploaded them all at the same time.

Re: From Michelle (Golddigger)
That picture of her with the injured Marine tells a very real story. To her he is the only man in the room at that moment. That is class. I went to the Blue Eyed Soul site and sent her a message thanking her for her service to vets. I never expected a response. But this morning there it was; a response from the lady herself! THAT is class. She has obviously made quite an impact on this board. That alone makes her an Honorary Marine in my book. All in favor say "Aye-Aye" and I will make sure she gets the message. SEMPER FI MICHELLE!

Re: From Michelle (Golddigger)
Larry, Thanks so much for posting the photos and her letter. I agree with the other posters -- this lady is a class act all round. Truly a "beautiful" person, inside AND out. I also agree with what she wrote -- you are a sweet and great guy -- always willing to help, committed to continuing to serve your community, and caring for others. Big hugs to you. LAM

With so many negative things going on, it is nice to hear
something like this once in a while!
This makes my day brighter! Thanks!
I came into this world screaming and covered in someone else’s blood and I have no problem with going out the same way.
