"I Am Alive" by Sgt Maj Charles R Jackson

"I Am Alive!" by Sgt Maj Charles R Jackson, USMC (ret). This is a wonderful book that is written by a "China Marine" who ends up on Coregador Island (in WW II) with the 4th Marines. After "Doughout Doug" bails on the brave men, the author lives through the Bataan Death March, the subsiquent Jap POW camp attrocities and got freed by "The Great Raid" Rangers. This fine Marine kept a detailed journal during his captivity and some of the horrible treatment that the prisioneers suffered will amaze and apall you. If you liked the book "Ghost Soldiers" and the subsiquent movie "The Great Raid" then you'll love this book!!! Well, except the ending...

I lent this book to Ed Horan ("links") and in a conversation after he read it he said something like: I really enjoyed this book...excpet the ending. What an amazing and wonderful life this old Marine lived!

It's been awhile since this was first posted.  I finally had lunch with Ed and he gave me back this book.  I am going to read it again.
