We are planning the Pacific North West (PNW) GriTogether for May 2 and 3, 2008.
Kathy and I have talked about it and kind of decided that we would try to make it easier all the way round.
We would like to propose hamburgers and hotdogs for Saturday night. Kat makes a terrific potato salad, we would have all the “fixin’s” for the burgers and dogs (tomato, onion, lettuce, cole slaw, chili, buns, pickles, mustard and ketchup – do we need to get anything else?). We will also have chips and dips, soda, plates, etc. If there is something someone would particularly like, please let us know so we can get it. We have a grill that we will pull around to the front of the inn so we can cook, enjoy a cold one or two or three or ???, and fraternize. Again, if there is something special you would like, let us know.
For those of you concerned about it – neither the liquor store nor the “merc” have moved, so if you need something with which to imbibe, they are available.
Top has already indicated she will be doing breakfast on Sunday morning. I was thinking we might have sausage gravy and biscuits/egg muffins on Saturday morning. Should we plan something more definitive for Friday night – not sure what but we are open to suggestions? Lunch would be pretty much on your own unless you would prefer something different.
Most of the trails should be open by May. There will still be a fair bit of debris you might have to navigate over/around/under but it would give you a good idea of what happened on Dec 2, 2007. I would like to suggest that perhaps some of us go for a walk on Saturday or Sunday morning – EARLY! There is a trail about 6 miles or so from here and the last couple of times I have walked it, there have been a herd (about 40 or so) of elk grazing nearby. Elk are not as cantankerous as moose but they do have something of a temper and they are really cool to see up close. EARLY would mean we would have to be on the road no later than about 0730. If you are interested, let me know.
I have talked with the owners and they have agreed to a 20% discount on the rooms which would make them $52.00 plus $5.88 tax for a total of $57.88 per night for one or two adults. Should you have more than two adults (anyone over the age of 6 is considered an “adult”) there would be an additional charge of $10.00 plus $1.13 tax for a total of $11.13. If you have a pet, we are “pet friendly” but there is an additional charge for the pet. The RV sites would also be available and would cost $16.80 plus $1.90 tax for a total of $18.70 per night.
We have blocked the weekend out on our office calendar so if you would like to call a make a reservation, please feel free to do so at 1.800.410.2237. Remember, we only have eight (8) rooms (five with two queen beds and three with one queen bed plus a small table and chairs) so if it looks like we will need more, I will try to arrange something with someone close by. We also have 5 RV sites (power and water only, no dump site) which would also be available. If I have forgotten anything, by all means feel free to let me know.
Again, Kathy and I are excited to get the chance to see you all again.
Y'all take care and we hope to hear from you soon.
