    Thinking about joining

I thought about joining when i was in high school and even made it up to MEPS and but had a medical thing that wouldnt let me then.  Its been four years and the thought jumped back in my head for whatever reason.  I want to go reserves but im not sure what reserve units are in the Denver region as I live in Greeley now.  So I'm not sure what MOS would be availiable.  I'm still trying to decide if its what I want to do or not.

Join the Marine Corps because you WANT to, don't base your decision on locations. Likewise, don't try reserves just because there might be a reserve unit closeby, talk to your recruiter and get the scoop on the pro's and con's of active duty/reserve life.

EVERYBODY wants to be a Marine at some point - only the few and the proud actually go through with it.

Well, it would also depend on if the medical thing you had has been fixed....If it still exsists, more then likely they wont let you join...

What kind of medical problem are we talking about?

    Re: Thinking about joining

We have people at my unit who travle hundreds of miles for various different reasons. I wouldn't base a decision on "what's close" because so many variables apply. Also, remember, location may become important later, but reservist still go through months of training before they end up back home, and if you're unlucky as I was you can end up on active duty for upwards of a year (especially with a "medical thing") as they won't send you to your reserve unit if you have any medical, legal, etc. problems.

Further, Iraq ain't close, and if you're going to be a Marine, you have to plan to be there.

If you have any reserve specific questions feel free to e-mail or PM me.
