    I have a question.

My boyfriend's just now hit Phase II of Basic Training. He's in San Deigo and they're heading up North for feild training and what not. Do any of you know whether he is able to recieve or send mail while he's up there? My main concern is the recieving part.

     Thank you,

    Natasha

    Re: I have a question.

When my boys moved up to Camp Pendleton to train at Edson Range, they said their mail followed them, but it took longer to be delivered. They are only there for a few weeks, and they are kept so busy that they don't have much time, anyway. I remember each writing that they were sure glad to get back to the Depot...they said the Chow was NASTY at CamPen for the recruits (but not the "regular" chow for the Marines, they found out). Your guy will enjoy the Warriors Breakfast, though.

I'll bet Top and OPGunny know if my information is up-to-date for sure.

God bless you & your Recruit. You'll get to see him soon - and you'll burst with pride and awe when you see the New Marine he's become. Don't miss Graduation and Family Day for ANYTHING!

P.S. When you go out to the Depot both days, wear comfortable shoes, you'll be walking all day. And for heaven's sake, STAY OFF THE PARADE DECK. *snort*

=) Thanks Lori! I didn't want to send a letter and have it lying around for any prying eyes. Not that I say anything that would be inappropriate, but I'm sure Drill Instructers and the likes would have some fun with "darling" or "love." Haha, the last thing he wants is to stand out.

I've heard of the Warriors Breakfast, but what is it exactly?

I'm hoping that he'll get that pin for Marksmanship. He's a pretty darned good aim. I know he'd be quite proud of himself. =) Get a little boost of confidence. I'm always telling him how proud I am, and I'm sure his parents are as well.

And thanks again Lori. I'm going with his parents to Graduation come April. Hoping to keep it a surprise, but I'd hate to break his heart by saying that I'm not if he asked. That'd kill me. I really don't think it'd be worth the surprise to do that to him, haha.

Parade Deck? That sounds like a voice of experiance. ;)

It's the breakfast they get after completing The Crucible.

My boyfriend couldn't tell me enough how good it was too! Because up until that point you're living off MRE's in The Crucible for the past 54 hours. So i can imagine it'd be a good meal, lol.

The Warrior Breakfast, is considered to be the best Breakfast they will ever have while in "Boot"!

One kid told me they served steak and eggs that morning.

For three days you live off of three meals. I remember when I went to bootcamp four years ago, we would compete against other squads during the crucible and if we won or did exceptionally well there a CampPen Marine would give us each an apple. Those apples were unusually delicious, mostly because we were rationing our food just thin enough to last us. At the end of the Crucible after accounting for everybody and all the gear, we would march (or limp, depending on how ridiculously tired we were!) to the chowhall and they had just about all the food you could imagine!!!!!!! Steak, eggs, sausage, bagels, peanut butter, bread of every kind, fruit of every kind, cereal, A1 sauce, french toast.... it was a miracle. We were tough recruits, hard as nails, but the sight of all that food almost made us lose our bearings! Every Marine remembers the warriors breakfast =)

Drill Instructor: D*mn son, you must be hungry... you're eating pretty fast!
    Recruit Adams: Yes Sir!
Drill Instructor: SLOW THE F*** DOWN!
    Recruit Adams: Aye Sir...
