As grandma got old, I made her a jar opener.
take a piece of flat wood, like plywood.
Embed a couple of hacksaw blades in the edge of 2 1x2 boards. Lengthwise, teeth out, so it just makes a toothed edge on the board.
Attach them to the flat board, in a wide V shape.
mount under a cabinet where it is easy to reach.
To open any jar, wedge the lid in to the V so the teeth grab it. Turn the jar.
Grandma is 86 now, and still opens her own jars with it. She's had it about 20 years now.
