RE: Time to learn you Newbies.

    Is there a reason it is NCMI instead of NMCI?

    I see, a POA is a little different than a POS. Okay, what about "deuce gear." Nobody, but nobody has deuce gear except Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.

    aaah deuce gear, I was proud to wear what I think must have been Chesty's LBV at boot. Apparently these are going out of use and people are using the MOLLE system on their flak jackets, something that caused me to ask "so ... er ... how are you going to change your clip now" at some recent NBC training. So kids there are 3 more for you, LBV, MOLLE and NBC

    NMCI= when you have an issue with your logon or system in general, call us at technical support and we'll put you on hold for 4 hours and 48 minutes(YES. I timed it) and then tell you that we can't fix your problem at our level.

    Re: RE: Time to learn you Newbies.

    AAAV= Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle, CAB= Combat Assault Battalion.

    Since I find myself currently in the unique position of working with the Tanker community. Here are some acronyms from the Armor side.

    EFV, ABV, CVC, TNB, VMP, FWMP, SMP, RORS, CDB, LMS, LDCS, HLA

    Some of these are pretty new, I don't expect to may to get them but go ahead and tkae a stab at it.

    EFV = Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle

    ABV = Assault Breaching Vehicle? (not sure)

    CVC = can't remember this one but I refuse to look it up cause I know it'll come to me

    TNB = no luck either remembering or online search

    VMP = something to do with aerial recon and/or photography?

    FWMP = Full Width Mine Plow

    SMP = Single Marine Program (don't know the armor related one)

    RORS = Rapid Ordnance Removal System

    CDB = Control Distribution Box (looked it up)

    LMS = Land Management Suite or System (heard both, not sure of the diff.)

    LDCS = Linear Demolition ChargeS

    HLA = Found out it's a designation for system used in communicating between Marine vehicles but damn if I could find what it stands for!

    Not to bad!

    Try again on

    CVC, VMP, SMP, CDB, LMS, and HLA. The S in LDCS is for system but I'll give you that one. Let me know if you need help.

    Re: RE: Time to learn you Newbies.

    Alright I've been busy so there hasn't been much free time lately BUT finally now I can get back to this. I gotta turn to the 'net at this point but here goes nothing.

    CVC = Combat Vehicle Crewman

    VMP = Marine Patrol Squadron (this one's a toughie)

    SMP = Hate concede defeat but this one's got me 100% in the dark ( I can only find Single Marine Program)

    CDB = Control Distribution Box was the best I could find (and not even what the box goes to)

    LMS = Lightweight Multipurpose Shelter, mounts on a HMMWV.

    HLA = High Level Architecture? Used for inter and intra-vehicle comms? If that's not it then I am not sure.

    LDCS = Unfortunately Linear Demo Charge was the only thing I could find that was armor related. Don't know this one either.

     Although I gotta say after looking into the armor side of things and seeing how interesting it is only makes forming an MOS wishlist even more difficult...if I ever get to that point (or if they even take the list into consideration anyway Big Smile )

    Re: RE: Time to learn you Newbies.

    VMP= Vehicle Master Power

    SMP= Surface Mine Plow

    CDB= Combat Dozer Blade

    LMS= Lane Marking System

    HLA= High Lift Adaptor, Used to connect one of the 4 attachments (FWMP,SMP,RORS,CDB) to the ABV

    TNB= Turret Networks Box

    You had LDCS correct the first time...you just didn't get the S for system. Like I said before not bad at all. Some of these are old most are new.
