    Weight loss Question

So I posted this in the wrong forum the first time. Sorry for the re-post. I am currently trying to loose weight so I can enlist in the Marines. I have already lost about 20 but still have 80 to go. I was loosing it like crazy but now it has slowed down a bit. Anyone have any good ideas on how to make it drop quicker? I already run and do physical activities. I just need something else to make it go quicker. I have altered my diet. I am eating 2 no fat hotdogs for lunch and 2 for dinner with no breakfast and only drinking water. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in Advance. Justin

Eat healthy meals and exercise your butt off...running is the best. Go see a doctor who is into sports medicine. Good luck.

dont skip breakfast, you need to keep your metabolism up if you want to keep burning. and alter your diet. hot dogs are realy high in sodium. instead try other high protein options like cottage cheese, tofu, lean meats, veggie burgers

Also take a few supplimental vitamins...ask your doctor which ones. And buy them at a health food store...not GNC or a drug store. Eat tons of veggies and fruits...and if you're going to skip a meal then skip dinner. And NO SNACKING on ANYTHING unless it's celery or carrots...maybe an apple or an orange once in awhile!!!

I would suggest seeking out a good nutritionist. They can help plan meals and stuff like that...

Build some muscle as well - it will make you gain weight initially since muscle weighs more than fat, but the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn quicker. Definitely get away from the hot dogs - they're no good for you. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, fish (orange roughy is awesome), and water. They key is being consistant. Good luck!

Drink alot of water, and don't skip breakfast. Get on a diet, and regulate your Carb intake. Eat carb food about one hour prior to physical activity, and watch what you eat after 5:00 pm, that's when your motabilism slows down, and your body will start turning food into fat and storing it.

    RE: Weight loss Question

Actually you should eat breakfast. It will speed up your metabolism and give you more energy for the day. You don't have to eat jsut two hot dogs for lunch and dinner, eat a salad with no fat dressing and eat a low cal meal. YOu don't have to jsut eat small things. Swim, swimming gives you far more of a workout than running, I don't know if it burns more fat though. Do a lot of strength building work outs (high reps low weight). Your body isn't used to losing all of this weight and it will take some time for you to get to the desired weight. Just make sure your not loading your plate with a bunch of sausage and bacon. Eat a bowl of cereal or something like that. I started eating cereal and ran 3 miles a day and lost 8 lbs.

    RE: Weight loss Question

If you want to loose weight, first you have to eat more (yes I said more) 6 meals a day and start with a multi-vitamins Eat a small meal when you get up like an egg white and a whole wheat toast Half way between breakfast and lunch eat a small bowl off cottage cheese (high proten) or some tuna fish (canned in water) Lunch sliced turkey, some green veggies Half way between lunch and dinner a few chunks of cheese with some whole weat crackers Dinner one large chicken brest, green veggie, low fat or 1% glass of milk (8 oz) Before bed a small snack (no not chips or ice cream) This way you will not be hungry, stay away from fruit it has natural sugars that you don't need to drop fat, red meat is ok only in small portions, white sugar and white flower are bad stay way from white bread, easy on the salt pepper is ok. After you work out eat some tuna it will help feed your body. If you need some more help just email me. I don't know how much time you have before you go to boot camp, but here is something I did about 9 years ago http://www.bodyforlife.com/index.asp no, I didn't win but I did drop weight and put on some muscle plus I learned alot that I didn't know.

    Re: Weight loss Question

Justin, sorry for not answering your post sooner, just read it today.  Rick and the others mentioned good points for loosing weight. Just a little tip to add to what has been mentioned.  If you take your current weight and multiply it by 12, that is the daily number of calories that you need to maintain that weight. So, the whole thing boils down to eating less calories each day. So if you weigh say 260, your calorie intake each day would have to be 3,120 calories per day to keep that weight, but if you eat less than that, exercise as you have been, eat the proper proteins and carb combinations, you will loose that weight. Good Luck, and as Rick mentioned, Tuna is good to eat.
