Name 2 Marine Officers, who served in the OSS (Father of the CIA). One was a very famous Actor, before and after WWII serving with Yugoslavian Partisans against German Occupiers. The other was notoriously famous, for wearing his Dress Blues in French Taverns and gunning down German Officers and such. He later was captured, and escaped death.........to become a Hollywood screen writer.[;)]

I believe the first guy you are talking about was Sterling Hayden and the other was Julien Ortiz, who forced a group of German Officers to toast to the President and the Marine Corps at gunpoint!

Yup! Sterling Hayden and Peter J. Ortiz (former French Foriegn Legionaire, as well too) Very, very good Junior.......[;)]

Ortiz also plays the one eyed cavalry officer/exec in "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.

Yup! He was good friends with the Duke and John Ford.[;)]

And, IIRC he had escaped from the krauts, twice. Once as a Legionare in N. Africa and once as a Marine after being captured in France.

Yup, he also was awarded 2 Navy Crosses and the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor! He died of cancer in 1988.

"The Corps" series of W.E.B Griffins writings somewhat mirror those careers if I'm not mistaken. I've only read a few of them so far, but see references to them here and there.

Yeah, they have a lot of the OSS people in them. Col Bill Donovan, Captain Kenneth McCoy, etc..
