    "Mommy's Little Lolita"

     http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1032029/Mummys-little-Lolita-The-11-year-old-girl-beauty-treatments-cost-300-month-make-look-like-Barbie.html

What do we think about this? Poor child looks older than me in those pictures!

"Ask Sasha how she sees herself and she replies: 'Blonde, pretty, dumb  -  I don't need brains.' Her mum laughs her head off at this, proud that the child is so like her."

    That is just disgusting.

Twisted.  Her mother's comments are so inherently wrong.

    Re: "Mommy's Little Lolita"

An 11 year old girl should not be wearing makeup to make her look like a porn star.  AngryLook at the way the mother dresses.. Poor girl's gonna end up pregnant at 14 and her mother's going to be so distraught thinking " how did this happen? I was such a good mother!"  yeah, right. If you dress your 11 year old daughter like that with all that makeup, might as well be her pimp!

I really don't understand why she would do this to her child. The kid looks like she could pass for someone in their mid 20's! It's really sad and absurd. I look at her and it reminds me of Jon Benet Ramsey [sp].

    She's not pretty.....even with all that make-up and air-brushing.

    Twisted!

When she's a 20 year old drug addicted whore with an eating disorder and distorted body image, we'll all know why.

Her parent's treating her this way now is only setting her up for so many problems. Like a child star only worse.

Poor girl, she needs some Dr. Phil ASAP!

Wow - that is just crazy. I've read a few stories on the news about younger beauty queens, but nothing to this degree. Her mom is raising her for certain disaster, and is just choosing not to see that at all. I hated the pictures with the really long crimped hair - it just looked awful and trashy, I thought. I just see a really bad future for this girl in about 8 years...

I found another article about the family. Mom gave this lovely quote-

"Sasha's mum Jayne Harris, a one-time glamour model, claims those who criticise her daughter's appearance are just jealous.

She says: "They're just do-gooders who probably have fat kids that they can't do anything with."

First that random girl said we were all stupid, and now this lady thinks all our kids are fat ROFLOL

Ok that girl looked WAY older than 11! Seriously...as a stylist wouldn't you just feel wrong putting all that make up on a girl so young? Shame on her mom for trying to live out her model dreams through her daughter. Grow up lady and be a mom, not a stage nut.

That is just sad.  I can't believe a mother would do that to her child.  Let her be a little girl!!!  I think that should be considered a form of child abuse you know.

Uh huh. This feels like a form of child abuse... they're setting her up for total disaster.

I think the whole child pageant thing is weird...but what really bothers me is the idea that they encourage the girl to believe that looks are everything and that's all she needs to succeed in life. And that it seems the parents have no desire to discipline her or make her earn anything.

I agree 100%. I don't care if your kid is cute or pretty, if he or she can't add, subtract or write a simple sentence he or she won't make it very far. Pageants are dumb and I think they send the completely wrong message, especially to kids. They don't really know what they're doing or why, why force them to be judged at such a young age on looks when as adults it will be enough of a struggle to feel comfortable in their own skin, especially girls. Why put them under that kind of pressure for nothing other than a tiara and sash?

I think it's one thing if your child enjoys doing pagents and is still a smart kid. You don't have to put 10 tons of makeup on your kids face for them to compete in local or state pageants. As long as you make sure the kid knows that being pretty isn't the main goal in life, I think it's okay to let them participate if they want. I have a problem with people like this lady, who has obviously told her daughter that she doesn't need to be smart, just pretty. That's a BIG problem.

I don't really know how to say this without sounding ignorant or coming across like a terrible person... but here goes...  I know that no one asks to be a victim of rape, incest, molestation, or any other form of sexual abuse.  But I think that some people put themselves and/or their children in situations where sexual abuse is more likely to occur.  This, I believe, is one of those situations.  With online predators, and all the stories in the news like Elizabeth Smart and that little one that disappeared from the vacation (whose name escapes me right  now... Michaela?) - why would you think it's o.k. to dress up your 11-year old and make her into a sex symbol?  I don't even have kids, and I still signed up to receive e-mails from the Sheriff's department if a sexual predator moves into my neighborhood.  In today's society, we need to do everything in our power to protect our kids from perverts.  Not dress them up like teeny tiny porn stars.

I don't think that's ignorant nor does it make you sound terrible. The fact here is that she is eleven years old and it is still her mother's responsibility to protect her and sheild her from these things, but like you said, is instead choosing to turn her into a sex symbol. She may not get raped or molested, but she is more than likely going to go through life thinking that her looks will get her what she wants (and as a girl gets older, sex will get her what she wants) and that is a horriblething to do to a child.

I don't think pagenents are dumb. I think they are fun, and can teach the child somethings. Plus they give cash prizes and sholarships sometimes. Not just a trophey or crown.

They turn ugly when the parents take it to the extreme.

I think I agree with you on that. I say "I think" because most of what we get to see of the pageant world from the outside ARE the crazy parents who push the kids way to hard and sort or seem like they are living through their kids. I am sure the "real" pageant world isn't what we see in the news, I wouldn't know because the whole beauty pageant thing isn't anything I was ever mildly interested in, even as an older girl.

Ha me either!! I was in a few as a child and won. I look back and think how cute and fun!! I do feel however that the mother in this said article is a little over the edge. The daughter is getting to the age where she will start to see what is wrong and right about what they are doing. Hopefully she is able to speak up for herself.

I totally agree. *WARNING* I'm about to step on my soap box.

I REALLY take issue with the ideas young girls are having shoved down their throats these days. I just really hate the idea of girls feeling that being rail thin, acting ditzy and wearing make-up is going to get them all they want in life. Yes, there is a stigma in this country that pretty people have it easy and that it's easier for them to make it farther. However, being smart, educated, confident and having a good set of morals and values is far more important than wearing the right clothing.  Would we want our sisters and daughters to feel that they had to sleep around or dress in a provocative way just to get attention? I know it probably isn't possible to change the entire world's view on women, but I can at least stress the importance of self confidence, education and loving herself.
