    Posers - they are everywhere!!!

OK, so it's the 4th of July and you want to be patriotic.  Ride down to the local Harley dealer to watch Bubba Blackwell do his thing on Harleys.  Ran into  a guy wearing a vest with a "Viet Nam Veteran -U.S. Marine Corps" patch displayed on the front.  I asked him where he did his time - and he says Cherry Point - so I asked him why he is wearing the patch.  His reply - I am suporting the Nam Vets.  What a crock!!!  My friends pulled me away as I was on the verge of losing it.  They dishonor my brothers by doing that.  I HATE POSERS!!!

If I'm Correct Bubba Blackwell was a Marine.  Had a kid in my unit at Camp Pendelton used the Marine Corps to get healthy again after a major Motorcycle accident.  He was a Champion rider of Flat track.  Kid Build a Sportster in the Barracks, without anybody knowig.  He road better on One wheel than I did with both on the ground.

I just have not been able to confirm this, Have searched and it does not show in his BIO.  Also Blackwells Brother was also a Marine, SSgt in 1994.

Ran into something interesting the other night.  The night before last, the evening before the 4th, my wife had a high school class reunion banquet.

I got to talking to the fellow across the table.  He's either divorced or widowed, I'm not sure, but he was by himself and is living in the St. Louis area.  He said he'd been in the Navy, in aviation, and me being a winger in the Corps we got to comparing careers.  We were both Avionics, and it seems every move I made, every place I'd been, every school I'd attended, every airplane I'd worked on, he did the same about four years after me.  And he could describe bases, areas, airplanes, and everything else in detail.

Since he was Navy, I couldn't ask my standard verification question of what was his MOS, but either he was for real or he was an extemely well-versed poser.  There's another party this evening, so if I get a chance, I'll check him out a bit more.

Ran into an old biker dude a few weeks ago. He wore a leather vest with a patch on it that said VC Killer. Turns out he was a doggie Public Information Officer working out of an office at MACV in Plieku and the only action he saw was a few incoming 122's. VC Killer, my ass.

Out here in Central Kansas, when I wear anything Marine, everyone that was a "Sniper", RECON, S.E.A.L., RANGER, or Green Beanie, has to stop me and tell how "Bad" they were, even said things like "My records are sealed cause it was so classified"......no one was just a Crew Chief, a Cook, or a Common Infantry Rifleman.......around here.  This is Poser heaven out here!

I had a bigtime Navy SEAL living near me a few years ago, William. He even showed me the scar on his thumb he got in Vietnam but "turned down a Purple Heart."  Since he liked to brag about waht a big hero he was, I turned his name into a group of former Navy SEALs and they busted his ass. Turned out he'd never even been in the freakin military. He ended up getting so much heat from local vets around here that he had to move to freakin Georgia.

Posers are bad. But I also have a sour place in my heart for the ones who say; "I ALMOST joined the Marine Corps", or "I ALMOST went to SEAL training".

To say ALMOST is to say YOU DIDN'T.

That's why I carry my old Dress Blues picture with me.  If anyone thinks I'm lyin' I show 'em they suck.

Now that we've elected a black guy for President, will the liberals please stop calling this a "racist" nation and quietly disappear?

As I have said previously, in 3 and a half years on recruiting duty in the late 80's I never met an average joe.  Lot's of recon, seals, green berets and phoenix guys.  At the time, made me feel very insignificant as I was just an artilleryman and even worse a recruiter.  I was even told that I must be a f*** up or I would be on the drill field.  Then my attitude improved when I realised I wasn't a winger!

Phoenix Program - Isn't that when the CIA and the South Vietnamese government went into a ton of villages and systematically rooted out suspected VC and dispatched (killed) many hundrds of citizens.  I am guessing that this was in 1969 or 1970.  The NVA said that the numbers were astrinomical but I think truth be told it was more like a few thousand.  One criticism is that anyone who held a grudge with anotherp person could rat on them and they could very well be killed by the authorities.

Doesn't this sound like what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan?
