    Pregnant Man Gives Birth

Okay so I haven't followed the whole story from beginning to end because well i think its gross!  But i was on Us Weekly.com and found this artical that he did give birth.  I am sitting here as i'm typing this with a face of ewwwww.  What are they going to tell there kid?  Well i'm daddy but i gave birth to you?!  Hello won't that be a bit confusing?  What do you all think of this?

I just hope that baby grows up happy and healthy. All the hormones and procedures s/he had to become a man just makes me hope the child doesn't develope health issues down the road. The doctors swear everything will be fine but they don't know, it's never been done before. They are still finding out things done 5 or 10 years ago can make people have issues. I just hope it's not the case with this baby.

A baby with two mommys but one's the daddy but technically the mommy.

I don't know I just think the whole situation is just strange. It's like they found a way around gay marriage. Two lesbians can't get married so one becomes a man so legally they can marry. Just a question, does s/he have two birth certificates, a death certificate for the female, two social security numbers? Legally, how does it all work?

I would think that he would have to have two birth certificates but only one is in a database?  I don't think there would be a death certificate becasue he didn't technically die and its probably the same social just with a different name on it.  This is all my guess.

I would think he (she) would keep the same birth certificate and probably have an amendment from the judge whenever he/she needs to use it for anything, the social security number would still be the same, and no need for a death certificate.  There can only be one birth certificate per live birth...the same person cannot have 2 different birth certificates.

The situation is strange, but I hope they raise a happy healthy baby that turns into a happy healthy productive adult.  Its not unusal for a child to be raised in this type of situation its just different because the "dad" gave birth and not the "mom".  But I am with Callie that I worry about the childs long term health.

Yeah huh?  Duh!Hammer Head.  I too hope that they raise a happy healthy baby but it is just so strange!  I hope more comes out of this story cuz i'm so curious now as far as if it was healthy when he/she was born and what not.

I am not one to judge at all on the way people are born and what makes them who they are...but people do have control over their actions.  It seems like this was all orchestrated as a publicity stunt...I mean he was on Oprah and has a book coming out.  If he really believes himself to be male, it doesn't seem that he would have a natural desire to have a baby.  He wants to be a man, but wants to partake in something that is so sacred to women.  I can't believe his wife went along with that...she must be a errr.. special woman.  I just don't get it.  But I agree with everyone, hopefully the child will have a healthy, happy life.

Yeah it does sound like a publicity stunt and i hope that they love that child!  Erica you are right about him wanting to be a man but then partaking in having his own child.  I don't think any women in there "right" mind would think that this was okay or normal.  Why didn't she want to carry there child?

Talk about a nut case; I'm all about kids having good and healthy homes but THIS cannot be healthy- how is the poor kid supposed to grow up and have a normal life if everywhere he/she turns everyone is talking about how the dad conceived the baby. We are not allowed to do psychological testing on people... but this seems like a huge mess that the kid is gonna be subject to for life. I honestly feel sorry for the child and hope that somehow he/she can grow up "normal" if that is possible. AND I hope the parents get out of the spotlight and work on raising their child rather then going around promoting him/her.

Whole story is just no, no no imo. G-d didn't make men to carry on a pregnancy, at least from how I grew up understanding it.

It is crazy to think about gender/sexuality roles in their relationship (*shudder*)  Would he be a straight man or a lesbian?  Would she be a heterosexual woman or a lesbian...a lesbian who has physical intercourse with a man who grew male genitals...eh...I don't even know.  I need to stop thinking about it!

He does.  or she does.  All I know is it's a little bit of a legal nightmare.  On the babies birth cirtificate is the mom/dad the birth mother or the father?  I din't think that she or he can be both...

Apparently when he started taking testosterone, a certain female sex organ became enlarged so that it now resembles a certain male sex organ (albeit much smaller).  And he uses that when he has intercourse with his wife.  Eck I feel creepy even recounting that.  I watched the linked interview on Oprah.

Ok so I think I'm the only one that does not think it's a big deal or gross or anything. I actually think it's a great thing. This "guys" wife was unable to get pregnant for some reason I can't remember. He still has his inside woman parts so he does it. I think it's great. I personally think growing up I would be proud to say that my dad did that for me.  I don't know. I don't see where it's gross. It's not like he's really a man. It's a woman. She just took off her boobs and grew a peter. Not a big deal to me I guess.

Ditto. Basically anything that's not normal creeps people out. Yes its odd to see a man preggo but thats about as far as it goes for me. He's not a man sex organ wise so he's really just a woman in mans clothes who cut his hair and is hairy and no boobs. Big whoop. As long as they love the child, why does it matter? I dont see the child being confused when it grows up. If anything, it will teach him/her (forgot the sex) that normal is whats normal for each individual person. This world is so wrapped up in whats normal, that people are missing out on what really makes them happy and loved.

You two are not the only ones that don't really see an issue with this.  Why can't two people who love eachother get married and have a child?  what's the gross part about that?  Obviously he is really a woman, she just carried and gave birth.  But she chooses to live her life as a man.  Her spouse is also a woman who wasn't able to carry a child.  They are a lesbian couple and one of them is a transgender.

Who are we really to say that it's not normal?  Some may say our lives are not normal.  Granted it's a different extreme but none the less.  They seem to really love eachother and truly want what is best for their child.  That sounds like a pretty normal love to me.  I have seen "normal" heterosexual couples who don't seem that in love and happy.  I'd be honored to have my father do something like that for me.  To know that he gave birth for my mother because she couldn't, and because they wanted me so bad, that would be something very special.  Hell, my own "normal" father took off when I was 5 and barely remembers how old I am.  So much for normal huh?

I see nothing wrong with them as a couple or family. HOWEVER what gets me is that he choose to be a man. Fine and dandy. If you choose to become a man then live like one. Men don't have babies. In a sense I don't like the fact that he gets to "double dip". His wife can't get pregnant so he goes "i'll do it for you since I can". After he gave birth now, he can go back to being a man, I think its not fair. Then again life isn't fair. There are women out there who can't get pregnant and their husbands can't carry a child for them. So if he truley wanted to be a man he should act that way.

I wish them all the best.

Its all simple. A woman/woman couple had a baby. One of them decided to take hormones to change her body to look like a males. Science does wonders. People are so caught up in their own views they make everything so simple look difficult. I dont agree with them becoming so public with everthing. Pointless in my opnion. But, I wish nothing but great parenting for the both of them.

I don't really know what I think about his transformation/change/conversion (don't know the "correct" term!) to a man, but I think it's unfortunate they were so public about the pregnancy. If they hadn't been all over TV, no one on the school playground would know the kid's dad used to be a woman. I would hate to think their child would be harrassed due to his parents choices, which possibly no one but family and close friends would have known about. I wondered if it would be better for them to just not tell the kid Daddy gave birth to him (not lie, but just not bring it up), but I guess they don't have a choice since they put it out there for the world to know and comment on.
