"The Iraq War, A Military History", by Williamson Murray and Maj Gen Robert H. Scales, Jr.
A serious study of the assault on Iraq beginning in March 2003 through the 23 days of the conventional warfare stage. Exceptional maps and color photographs, and an extensive discussion with charts on the various weapons systems, helicopters, artillery, armor and munitions. General Scales, former head of the Army War College, and Murray, a Defense Analyst, are not shy about critisizing, and the book serves as a doctrinal template for future operations. The Marine Corps comes off looking very, very good in this book--and rightly so.
