"I Am Alive!" by Sgt Maj Charles R Jackson, USMC (ret).
This is a wonderful book that is written by a "China Marine" who ends up on Coregador Island (in WW II) with the 4th Marines. After "Doughout Doug" bails on the brave men, the author lives through the Bataan Death March, the subsiquent Jap POW camp attrocities and got freed by "The Great Raid" Rangers.
This fine Marine kept a detailed journal during his captivity and some of the horrible treatment that the prisioneers suffered will amaze and apall you.
If you liked the book "Ghost Soldiers" and the subsiquent movie "The Great Raid" then you'll love this book!!!
Well, except the ending...
