    Food

So its about time for me to start picking the menu for the reception.

What kind of menu did you girls have? Did you have plated food or just little finger foods and such? I haven't decided yet what i'm doing. My reception will be at 7:30 PM, so its an evening reception.

Mmm.. I love our reception menu!

Our reception starts at 5, and while the wedding party is taking pictures, there will be spinach-and-artichoke dip and cheese & crackers out for guests to munch on. Then when the wedding party gets there (around 6) we're having a buffet-style dinner.

There will be baked ham with brown sugar and pineapple, Italian almond-crusted chicken breast, seasoned green beans, au gratin potatoes, and salad with homemade dressing, plus homemade dinner rolls.

    Re: Food

We had a cocktail hour with appetizers and served drinks follwed by a full spread buffet with a carving station. Then cake and fruit for dessert. The buffet went really well becuase people could choose what they wanted and we were able to offer more varaity.

Our food didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. It was way more fancy than we had wanted but it was pretty delicious. Everyone had the option of Salmon or Chicken and it came with sides (i can't remember what they were for the life of me haha) and salad and rolls. Then cake at the end :o)

We had lots of stuff for people to choose from and it was a buffet style dinner.  We had baked steak, chicken, rigatoni, green beans, red potatoes, salad, fruit, cookies and of course.. CAKE!  haha  i think there may have been a veggie plate too! haha we had a caterer and then a few people made stuff on the side and brought it in for the heck of it and cuz they love me haha.. so we had a nice variety.

    Re: Food

We just had finger food type stuff. My mom and her friend made it all and honestly I dont remember anything we had. All I remember was requesting Lays chips bc they are my favorite, ha! The ceremony was kinda late, at 6pm. So the reception started at like 7. We noted at the bottom of the invitation something like "Hors dourves will be served following the ceramony at *reception location here*". That way people knew to eat dinner before hand and to not expect a huge meal.

    Re: Food

We did both because we had our reception at 7:00pm so we did a cocktail hour and then had a full dinner starting at 8PM.  It was super nice but we missed a lot of the cocktail hour because they wouldnt introduce us until 7:30 which was fine because we left the church late after pictures and such, so then we could mingle with our guests and chat a little before the formal dinner.

We're having a cocktail hour with little finger foods, I think we get a choice of four or five different snacks. Then we're having a sit down dinner. The sit down dinner for us was actually cheaper. We haven't even begun to pick our menu yet but Chris is already starting to choose which beers he wants on tap, lol
