Stellar1984:
I know that you are headed to Cherry Point here soon. If you are able to keep the little guy until then I am so positive that he could find a good home if you posted things on the mailboxes in the housing areas or even at the local vet offices. I would hate from him to go to a shelter. If you cannot find a home for him and are able to keep him for a few more months and have no choice, I would be more than happy to help you locate a no kill shelter in the area. Just let me know hun.
I could try to keep him until then, I just want to make sure he ends up some where good... Thank you for offering to help hun. Can't wait to move up there and meet ya! :)

I agree with Ashleigh, I would definately find a No Kill Shelter if you cant find someone to take your pet.
And not to be a total b&^%h, I hate reading posts like this because it's made out to be that the dog is completely pushed aside when a baby is born. C and I are about to go through this in July, but there is no way in hell I would ever give up our dog. He's a part of the family also. Maybe you should try to juggle somethings around and make time for the dog when the baby is sleeping, so that you don't just give up the dog. Animals aren't like a toy.

Okay well all I can say is thanks for your input.
Although, Yeah you can do that when a baby is little and sleeps all the time but when they are up and crawling around and playing all the time you have to be on top of them twenty four seven.. So I don't appreciate what you said at all... He isn't treated like a "toy". It is the fact he deserves more attention then he is getting because I can't let my son pull all over him, because he is a baby and doesn't know any better. So thanks alot for being really rude about this even though you say you didn't mean to be.

You're welcome.
I still think that you most definately could work through it. Your son is 7 months old according to your ticker and will understand NO in a bit, that's when you can teach him how to be around the dog. It's your choice and you obviously don't want to work through this because it'd be MUCH easier to just "throw" the dog.

Well, that is your opinion.
I didn't say I wasn't willing to work through it I still have him to this second and I am trying it is just with everything we have going on and the way Chihuahua's like attention he just isn't getting enough, but I am tired of going over this with you because you don't try to see it from the other side.. Maybe because your child isn't here yet.......Whatever the case may be, you should try to be a little bit more considerate of others feelings. I love this dog, He has brought alot of happiness to this house, but you act as though I never cared about him and I do very much. So please. I am done going over this. Sorry if I seem rude to you but it is just i'm hurt by the way you see my situation.

I agree with Ashleigh, if you could keep him til you move to Cherry Point you could post him on Craigslist, I'm sure you'd be able to find someone who wants him!!! I see tons of posts on Craigslist for my area of people wanting a small dog.
I wish I would've seen this before because we just bought a Chihuahua pup. If we didn't live in an apartment (and technically we already have more animals than we're allowed to here) I'd totally take him!!!
Best of luck!!! And if there's anything I can do to help (in Jacksonville) let me know!

It was just way to hard to chase around my son who is crawling everywhere and getting into everything and try and keep him happy and the dog on his schdeule., and some people just don't understand that. Thank you so much for being so kind about it. I really appreciate that.
I am pleased to say he got a home this last weekend with an older couple who have plenty of time to devote to him.

I'm WAY late on this, but I'm glad you found a good home for your pup! We have 3 dogs and are trying to have a baby and i'm terrified of what it's going to be like. I could never give up my dogs, but I know I'm in for one heck of a ride when the time comes haha We have two boxers that are gentle loving dogs, so I dont need to worry about them too much, but we also have a little pom, and whenever we have a baby and that baby starts walking... one fall onto my pom and the poor thing would be dead (hes only 4 lbs) haha so it's gonna be hard!!!! haha i think you did the smart thing by giving him to someone who could give him more attention if it was just too much for you. you know what you can handle and what you cant so it's no one else's right to judge you. Like I said, I could never give up my dogs, but.. I havent had a baby yet, so i cant speak from your standpoint on how hard it is. I just know it will be HARD! haha
