    Workout Plan?

Hello. I figured that this would be the best place to post, since there are Marines on the board, and other people who can help. I'm looking to join, but I'm really out of shape at the moment, and needed help getting a workout program together with what I have available, since I can't go to a gym. Right now, I have a basic bench press bench, an olympic bar, a curl bar, a leg extensions machine, a mini dumbell, a tension cord, and a giant bouncy ball thing. I wanted to get my endurance up, and build muscle. The maximum weight I can put on a bar is 180, because I don't have enough weights. I'm roughly 5'8"-5'9", and about 170 lbs. Can somebody help me get a 5 day workout plan together?

    Thanks-

    DevilDog4691

If I read your message correctly, you are thinking about joining the Marine Corps.  Is that correct?  If so, who are you to be calling yourself "Devil Dog"?  That is a term for a Marine not a civilian puke.

    Re: Workout Plan?

While I agree with my bro John in regard to your temerity I think what you need to look at is a lot of running and a lot of reps/sets with the weights that you have.  Running should be your 4Xweekly exercise.    Use the weights for 2 days a week (in addition to the run so those days would be light run mucho weights) and rest 2.  How far can you run inwhat time?  If you have a speed and time deficit concentrate on that.  Alternate sprinting and distance so as to recruit both fast twitch and slow twitch muscles.  Do you have access to a pull-up bar?  DIs are crazy hot for pull-ups.  So if you can get to a pull-up bar get started on that.  Google the Marine Corps exercises.  There are several out there or same-same SEAL exercise routines.  But, running is the major component in endurance.  You should aim to get as close to a sub-15 min 3 mile run as you can.  All the needed exercises can be found through Google or looking through the archives on this forum.  This kind of ? has been asked many times.  I do sugest a change of screen name until you earn the title of Marine.

Thanks for the tips! And, as for the screen name, I've been using it since before I even knew what it meant, just because I thought it sounded cool. After I found out what it meant, I'd been using it for so long that I didn't really want to change it. So, if anyone is gonna seriously get touchy feely over it on here, point in the right direction of where I can change it. Its gonna end up going back to thins on in 4 months anyways, lol.

Go to the "Home" tab above and email Dovie and get her to fix you up.  If we let just anyone use our stuff then how good would it be?  Change the name then claim it back when you claim the title.

Ok. I just sent the mail. I guess from now until I graduate from boot camp, I will be BeatlesFan4691 (after it gets changed)

Wow. Long time since I've logged on, but I'll answer anyways, albeit a little late... I'd have to go with a lesser known song, titled Blue Jay Way. Definitely one of the trippier ones they came out with, but the vocals sound so spacey! It amazes me.

EDIT: I can see that my name has not yet changed, so if anybody on here has the power to do so, that would be just awesome.

That name change is very appropriate.
