Please allow myself...to introduce...myself...
Well, I was going to wait until after I had been to the MEPS, and signed and sworn in to make my first post, I sort of frown upon people coming on here as wannabe's, not even poolees, and making dumb posts (I've been lurking on here for a while).
I am pleased to announce that on yesterday, April 10th I passed the physical, as well as the ASVAB with, what my recruiter Sgt. Marcus Pegques calls "flying colors". I got a 90 on the ASVAB with my stronger portions being the technical ones. I just wanted to let everyone who is considering joining the armed forces (not just USMC) that MEPS is a pretty cool experience, and definitely exceeded my expectations (the physical wasn't too bad either!). As far as the job field that I chose, it is either in 61xx or 62xx, I want to do aircraft maintenance, like my uncle who is a Marine (he works on ejection seat systems in F/A-18's). My father was also a Marine, he worked in supply administration though.
Overall, I'm looking forward to my ship date, October 13th, I know that challenges await me, but I am confident that I will do well. It has always been a dream of mine to be a Marine, and after a year of college, I just feel that my energy would be better expended elsewhere, and where better than the Marine Corps? I see myself finishing college at some point, but right now, I feel that some additional discipline and structure in my life would be beneficial. I can only imagine how awesome it must feel at graduation, having completed boot camp, heck, I felt pretty dang proud yesterday when I came back to the recruiter's office and the four recruiters there welcomed me back with applause and congratulations (along with orders to attend any and all poolee functions I could, but that was decided before I even walked into the recruiter's office the first time.)
As far as the title to my thread goes, you've all seen Austin Powers right?

Autoxes, I generally don't post in this section, but now and again venture down to read posts
First, let me Thank you for taking the time to Serve our Country and choosing the Marine Corps. I normally don't say good luck to anyone, as we all know that it isn't so much as luck, but hard work to become a Marine. I will say, good on you for setting high goals for yourself. Seems like you have a plan.
Keep us posted as to how everything goes along on your journey.
I am also glad to see that I am not the only person that enjoys the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby team .
Now, get back to

When you are a legacy, they expect you to know what you are doing and not be a screw-up. Do the best you can and welcome to the board. We don't mind wannabees here, most of them continue on to boot. We just don't care for smart alecks and trolls.

Allow me to vouch for this being true. But the thing is, it's not even the Drill Instructors that expect more, it's the other recruits depending on you for knowledge or guidance. When they found out I had been raised in a Marine family, and that my friend Jackson had too, everyone was always coming to us looking for advice or help or information because they thought we should know everything since we had been around it before.
