This weekend Jimmy and I were working on invitations (after Kacie inspired me to try to make our own) and we came up with the following:

My questions are: Did I miss anything? Would you recommend changing anything?

anyways i'm glad you got to make them. it saves $$$! And i like the bow. i could never tie bows that pretty lol

That's so pretty! I can't believe you made it yourself!
The only thing I would suggest is maybe moving all the text down a line or two, so that less of it is hidden by the bow. Just an idea.

I agree that the bow shouldnt cover the text the way it is. Great job though!
And I think Faith is right about the rank thing. We didnt put a rank on ours. We put:
Kyle A. Last Name and USMC under it and centered.
Under your part about the reception, we put where it was going to be held at. I'm not sure how your guests are supposed to know other than by word of mouth. If you want me to be 100% honest *hides* I think the picture makes it looks really cluttered and it just looks awkward and maybe just too much. If you took the picture out, you would be able to move the text down and the bow wouldnt be a problem. Or just use thinner fabric for it maybe. If you really want to include a picture, maybe you could save it for the thank you cards.
Sorry, I feel like I totally just tore your invitation apart, I didnt mean it to come across like that.

You want them to focus on the info, not necessarily the "accessories" (photo, bow, etc.) So...going along with Ashes suggestion, how about fading the photo into the background of the invite and make it like a watermark. We did that for our seating chart. I wish I had a picture of it, but I'm sure you can imagine it. That way the photo can take up the background and it'll be light enough not to distract but present enough for people to see. OR like they said, remove the pic all together. You have many chances to put your pictures around, i.e. photo stamps, seating chart, favor table. :)

No offense taken at all- I asked for it, right? Jimmy and I had been wondering about the picture in the first place and since this was only a trial I really appreciate the critiques. As for the bow, and wording, I will def. be moving that down so people can actually SEE the wording without ripping off the bow. Also thank you SOO much for mentioning the rank... I was so confused because the internet has so many dif. opinions on what is the correct.
Courtney- We bought the invitation kits at Ollie's (have you heard of them?) They were 4.99 per pack of 20 and that included RSVP cards, the invitation, the sheer white thing that went over the wording, the bows (already tied) and sticky things to stick the bows on with. Plus the envelopes. When we were comparing invite prices to make them, we will have less then 50 dollars in (excluding shipping), to buy invitations we were looking at around 160 dollars for 100. So, def. a good savings.
