COLUMBIA, S.C. A memorial service for Robert Edward Lee, age 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Irmo, S. C., with the Rev. Dr. Bill Messer officiating. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington, S.C., is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Lee was born January 8, 1916, in Evans Landing, Ky., and passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008. He was the son of the late Gurley Tilford and Lucy Anne McKinney Lee. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1940 to 1946 in several campaigns during World War II. Mr. Lee was retired from BF Goodrich in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and was a lover and writer of poetry.
Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Lucille Bailey Lee; children, Robert Earl Lee and Gail Lee Frye; grandchildren, Darren Lee Frye, Benjamin Daniel Frye, Richard Edward Lee, and SSGT Robin Lore Lee, U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Iraq; and great grandchildren, Tiffany Marie Frye and Ashlee Nicole Frye.
