Eek good question. The sword is a good idea but Chris already has one. You could get him a nice engraved flask, but I know you guys aren't really drinkers. Does he ever smoke cigars? Maybe you could get a cigar case engraved and put some nice cigars in there for him and his groomsmen to share after the ceremony in celebration!

other ideas might be a new game for his xbox/ps2/gamesystem.

one that i know George liked was i thought of something he uses all the time. like a watch or cell phone or wallet, just something he never leaves the house without. and i upgrade it. i get a brand new one (of the one he already owns) or i get him a brand spanken new one of a similar style so i know he'll like it. =)

Sonny and I are the type to sit around on a Saturday night playing Yahtzee (I know - we're geeks)...so rather than spend money on "something for her" and "something for him" we're going in halfsies on a Wii.  Not very romantical, but it's something we both want and something we'll do together.

We actually never realized you were "supposed" to do wedding presents, haha. I didn't even think of it for the wedding, because ours was so small anyway. I showed Patrick this thread because we're in the process of planning a renewal back home next year for all the family, but we agreed we don't want to do presents then either. With all the holidays, birthdays, etc. we have enough gift-giving occasions - we just want to enjoy the wedding.

Ross and I got married twice. The first time was Dec 2nd and it was just a little court wedding with our parents and a couple of close friends. The second time was June 3rd of the following year and it was the big horrah. We went back home and did a blessing of our vows..dresses...flowers...wedding party...reception. Both times we didn't do gifts...I think with planning everything and all the stress we just figured the wedding was enough. If you really want to do something maybe do something simple that doesn't cost a lot. I promise, at the end you won't be like "Crap!! I didn't get you anything." haha

We didn't do gifts either. We decided to save the much needed cash. :)

This is something we've been thinking about...whether we should get each other gifts or not.  I have a feeling we won't...simply because we REALLY need to save money and we want to have a blast on our honeymoon.  :)

i think that's the smartest thing to do! you'll have the rest of your life to buy each other gifts!! haha and you'll get enough gifts from family and friends.  Just get each other a nice card or something and write some heartfelt things inside and read them on your wedding night!

We didnt really do gifts either because we got married right after Christmas.  And my husband bday is right before that.  But he did give me the worlds sweetest card with really sweet things written in it professing his love AND he told me he wanted to buy me something else then he remembered that he just payed for the huge rock on my finger!  We had my ring designed for me!  LOL

We'll I bought Daniel an Apple Ipod - it was the kind that shows pictures and plays music - he loved it because he was getting ready to activate for deployment the next month and it came in a lot of handy. In return, he really didn't get me anything...I wasn't expecting it, so I wasn't disappointed.

I liked the idea of the Wii!! That's a gift you can both use! I'm glad I read this post because I have no flipping clue what to get Ian and I don't think he even knows we're supposed to get each other gifts. I don't think it's really necessary because we're having a wedding and we'll be getting gifts then. Plus, we don't have loads of money to spend on each other. I think we'll probably just wait and buy gifts when we have money (if that ever happens)!

However....if you really want to do something, you could always go in and buy gifts you can both use. Ian's sister is getting married thsi summer and her and her fiancee went in and brough a new mattress they really needed. Not really exciting, but something you both use and is practical is always good!

Eekk....we're all getting so close to the big day!

Ryan and I gave each other new necklaces. He got a Saint Christopher's pendant and a platnium chain and I got a heart locket with a diamond center. We wanted each other to have something to wear special on our wedding day and it work perfect
