    Question about reserves.

I've already sworn into the DEP and plan on leaving after my senior year, and my date to depart for basic is August 11th. My plan was after basic, I get stationed where I need to with my MOS, which is aviation mechanic and get my 4 year so I can attend OCS. Well things are home are heading in a direction I didn't see and I thought about the reserves for 4 years until I can grab my diploma and then head to OCS. Question is, in the reserves am I able to get paid tution for schooling? And after 4 years, am I able to switch back to active and then proceed to OCS?

    Thanks for any replies.

Best thing to do is ask your recruiter.  He should be up on that. You might want to go to the recruiter section we have here and ask.

You can get some tuition assistance and a couple other things that are out there but YOU need to ask for it, that is what I am doing.

As mentioned before, you need to be talking to a recruiter in detail. In addition to tuition assistance programs, you are also entitled to the reserve GI bill, which isn't as good as the active duty GI bill, but it is money for school.

Also, you would need to be in contact with an OSO (Officer Selection Officer) while you are attending school/drilling to get you on the road to OCS...that will put you on the track to going active duty, etc. once you get commissioned.

ETA: Talk to your recruiter about the 90 Day Reserve program--it is by far the best option for a colelge student serving in the reserves & something I wish I had known about when I enlisted.

Since your Bio show that you were at PI in Feb and Mar of 1994, it is the Date of your Graduation Ceremony and being assigned the Title of MARINE.

Here is his correct Boot Camp Graduation Date that I copied from His Bio; "Feb 18 1994 Boot Camp PI 1st Bn Delta Plt 1133".
I was reading his MCT time as Boot Camp Time, my bad.
