    Re: Wedding Favors

My theme was red and black so my main flower was red roses....so I was going to give spoons with hersheys kisses in them and it was going to have a tag that said "A spoon full of kisses from the Mr. and Mrs." which is a cute idea but in the end I changed my mind because a girl that was going to my wedding had done that too and I just didn't want to have the same thing.... so I gave out a single crystal rose they were pricey though but...they were gorgeous and everyone loved them!

    Re: Wedding Favors

I am all about the useful gifts. something that will please everyone and not get thrown away. I just can't stand it when people give things that are pointless JUST to have a favor to give out. *eyeroll* we gave out hot cocoa packets. one per person. in fact i think a lot of people took extra because i didn't have any leftover at all. ok so i deleted the photos lol. But we made small tulle bags (just big enough to fit the hot cocoa with paper folded over, and tie a ribbon on top). I made them in sheer fabric in gold, white, and blue with gold white or blue ribbon. The paper that we folded over the hot cocoa had a monogram on the front, and when you opened it there was a poem that George wrote. here:

    • The wind was quite chilly
    • When two hearts met
    • In a sea of gold and blue
    • They won't ever forget.
      • The gridiron was lit,
      • their pep band assembled.
      • The two sat together.
      • His nervous voice trembled.
        • He passed her some texts,
        • she shot him a smile.
        • Through halftime, still out there.
        • It was cold for a while.
          • He got her some cocoa,
          • to break up the chill.
          • He knew that he liked her
          • And that he always will.
            • They've grown up since then
            • It's been a fun trip
            • A friendship to last forever
            • Sparked by a hot sip

    Re: Wedding Favors

When Mark and I have our wedding we're going to do a couple of things. The first thing is we're going to have a table set up and with a candy bar and little baggies so that our guests can fill up their baggies with whatever they choose.

The other thing that I want to do is have chocolate covered strawberries made, you know that cute ones that look like a bride and groom. Except for the groom ones I want them to be in little dress blues. Big Smile I know it will probably cost us a pretty penny, but I have wanted to do this for a very long time....so I'm going for it!

imagine them in little dress blues, lol

We didn't do a large ceremony, but I'm currently planning our renewal for Sept-ish 2009. We're not doing traditional favors - we're making a donation in honor of our guests to the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter, where I volunteer. We're going to take some of the pictures I've taken of the animals and put them on the tables with a written explanation of the donation we've made. I'm excited to let the shelter know what we're doing eventually!

    We did koozies. Here's a pic :)

They had a lot of diff designs to pick from and you can actually get them for any event not just weddings. They had one that said "To have and to hold and to keep your beer cold!" Thought that was cute..just not what we wanted cause some of our guests are very old fashioned and wouldn't have liked it!

That's similiar to what Jimmy and I want to do. We are planning on putting little cards at each seat saying something to the effect of, "In honor of your presence at our special day, the bride and groom will be making a donation to the Walter Reed Medical Facility in order to support the veterans who have sacrificed so much for the freedom that we celebrate daily." I just felt like I'd rather donate to something rather then spend the same amount of money of a trinket that would get tossed. Smile

    Re: Wedding Favors

You saw my pics. We had a candy buffet. It was a hit with the kids and the adults. hahahahah.

Another idea I had before the candy buffet idea was plantable flower favors. They're little packets that you can personalize. Each guest can take one home, plant the packet directly in the ground and out sprouts a flower! Roly and I are into the whole green, save the Earth thing so that was a nice idea. :) It does depend on your budget b/c some of those favors are expensive.

The candy buffet: oh yeah, not the cheapest idea out there. eek!

Markus and Ashley did the candy bar idea, and people loved it. I know me and the bridesmaids took about 4 bags worth home with us that night :) They also made a CD for the guests with really good songs on it, some of theri favorites.

Ian and I had plans to NOT do any type of favor, but my mom and I decided we needed to something, even if it was little. We bought little tiny metal trees (I'll take pics, I promise they aren't as ugly as they sound) and little organza string bags. We are going to fill the bags with candy and hang them from the trees for people to take as they leave.

Check out theknot.com and wedding magazines, they have TONS of ideas, something for every budget! Also, like some of the girls said, consider donating to the Wounded Warriors club, animal shelter, etc, whatever you and Louie feel strongly about.

This is what I'm going to do! We decided we're going to get married on Memorial Day weekend and so we're going to give the money to a veteran's organization. I'll put little cards on the tables that explain the gift and I'm going to put little yellow ribbons that they can pin to their clothes later. I think I got the idea from Meghan, lol :P

Hey that's what my parents did when they renewed their vowels.

As for Lori, I love the candy table idea.

We did tiny, individual jars of honey with a hemp-like ribbon and a little note card attached that read, "How Sweet it is To Be Loved by You" and then our names and wedding date underneath. I made them myself and ordered the pre-punched notes for like $4 on ebay! The jars I bought in bulk online and the honey was a gift from some guy that used to come into the coffee shop I worked at, who wanted to get me something. haha. They came out beautiful and no one had ever seen anything like that before.

We had a little container of jelly-beans (we got married the weekend before Easter) with a sticky label on top of it with our name and date. We wrapped them up in cute little purple and white fabric and tied in with a bow at the top! It looked really cute as it ruffled out on the top! We also had mini-chocolate bars (hershey, goodbar, krackel) with homemade wrappers saying our name and date again, along with the ingredients (listed as love, kindness etc - giving percentages of each in the bar). Lastly we had personalized ink pens with our name and date on them as well - they were a dark purple that matched our wedding colors too!
