    My experience with Grittogethers(Re: Barb's)

Back in 2005 maybe march or April time frame I was approached, from the portside,

about going to Oklahoma City to the Second Annual Grittogether at Sgt. Grits .

I approached furture spousal unit several timea asking permission to go, denied twice.

Rhonda finally agreed to us going then I decided I would try to spring going to Barbs in

June also on her after she said yes to Barbs I waited until we where at Barbs before I

brought up the D.C. trip. I told her that the Brotherhood of the Corps will get a hold on you.

I Bring this up cause it  Time for Beer, Barbecue,Bullsh*t at Barbs,

I need to know how many people are planning on coming cause I 'm trying to get us a discount

    on a block of rooms.

Its the last weekend in June 27,28,29 2008

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference Marines dont have that problem.

George, unless some kind of unforseen emergency comes up, I plan on being there.

They changed the dates of the Marine get-together I go to in Mississippi this year to the weekend of June 21st. So I guess I'll be in McComb,Mississippi that weekend in June and then at Barb's in Chattanooga the next weekend.

As of right now, we have no travel plans to Bonaire. If it works out, I would love to come back south to all that good hospitality and swing those clubs again with Danny and Roy and Nancy. My back is pretty good now, after those steroid injections, and I'm about 80% good to go.

Jimmy Mac, when are you comin back?

Re: My experience with Grittogethers(Re: Barb's)

I know it seems a bit early to be talking about this BUT just think how fast the past 6 mos. have flown by.

I had part of the deck flooring replaced in the late fall. Still have 3-4 boards that need to be put down, but my son will take care of it when it warms up a bit. Mac was concerned, a year or two ago, about how much weight the extended part would hold.

I am sure Sunday morning breakfast can be arranged. If I need to make any calls for the golfers, let me know. I still know some people with contacts. Don't remember which ones you all played last year.

George, I talked to Doug and Terry after I  received your e mail and they will for sure be here .BUT they need to be at a place that excepts dogs. If where you book will except their dog, count them in. If not, they will stay at the LeQuinta.

Again, GEORGE, if you want me to make some phone calls or check into any place, let me know. OR IF you and Rhonda want to come up for a day or two and check it out your selfs, let me know. I am out of town alot of week ends. With two  of my kids with in a three hr drive now, it makes it a whole lot easier to visit . I am either running to Atlanta or Jasper or they are up here alot. Big Smile Love having some family this close BUT not too close.

    Thanks again George Clap Hands

Can  we get a stickey for this thread ?  Please.

We plan to be there. Like to stay at the Wingate when in Chattanooga because it is is not in the "malfunction junction", but let's see what you get, George.

I also talked to an Iwo Jima Marine yesterday, Bill Davenport of Smyrna, TN, and asked him if he would like to go. He definitely would. Gene's comments about Ray Jacob's death prompted me to get back in touch with Mr Davenport. I interviewed him in January of 2006 and had asked him to go that summer but he had already planned a trip for that week. It would be awesome to have two of those Marines together down there.

JimMc, we will have to gang up on Danny this year. He sees $$$$ everytime he sees me coming!Big Smile

My platoon will be there this year. We were unable to be there last year because money was very very tight.  This year we will introduce Christopher Tomas at the Grittogether.

Top, I think that is the plan, I'm pretty sure Barb and Mary decided on it when we were in D.C.  Mary said to tell you, Barb and Pam to have a Hot Damn or two for her.

Joe, Pammie and I have celebrated ALL of our Anniversaries in Chattanooga.  Coming up will be #6.  Last year, we renewed our vows, witnessed by the Recon Marine Minister who presided over the Original...Billy Devil Dog.

George & Rhonda joined in with their 6th month Anniversary !

Maybe we can all make it a TRIPLE next year ? !!!

Not sure if my fireteam will be making it or not this year. I will have just gotten back & I have several schools lined up. Just don't know when they are.

Besides, if I can, I will be there to help Barb clean & set up. All the while testing the Hot Damn's to make sure that they are all good to go.

Hey ya'll. I am lurking from downstairs in the Wives forum. Seeing as how we live near Chattanooga (Rossville) I would love to help. Barb, just give me a hollar! Hubby is "busy" on "summer vacation" if you know what I mean, so it would just be the munchkin and I. We don't need a room.
