What did you guys put on your do not play list? I really am bad at just thinking of songs off the top of my head.
Don't you all love my random-ness when it comes to planning this wedding? :P

Faith, you are a genius! I had not even THOUGHT about that! Our DJ seems pretty cool, he's young and actaully graduated a few years before I did. He has a whole website set up where you can go through lists of songs and pick which ones you want played. You can also set up the mother/son dance, father/daughter dance, bridal party dance, etc. It helps to have it in one place! I hope you ladies have suggestions, I can't think of any songs either!

Kacie:
i would put anything that has a matching dance. ymca, chicken dance, hokey pokey. anything like that. lol but i didn't have a DJ.
Those are the fun ones! We did the Cha-Cha slide at it was my favorite dance of the night. Cant say I regret it...it's fun to let loose and be cheesey. Uptight receptions arent our thing I suppose.
That is a good idea though Faith. Never would have thought of a do not play list :)

You know, I tried and tried so hard to think of some songs for a "do not play - list" but I just couldn't! Finally I was just like ok obviously there isn't anything that is that big of a deal so I just never made one!
I DID think about having him not do the chicken dance or any of those sort of things...but he wound up playing a few of them like that and those are the ones that got everybody out to dance! Like the "older folks" who like to sit and watch - my grandma was TOTALLY doing the chicken dance :) So I'm glad I didn't tell my DJ to not play those. Now...we ARE from Texas haha so maybe it is a country thing but we enjoyed it :)
I'd just say anything really vulgar but I'd hope the DJ would know that! Especially if you have kids at your wedding! Or if theres a specific genre that you don't like, ya know? Like some people can't stand country and others hate rap.
And I love all your random wedding planning questions :)

SaraLou14: I was at a friend's wedding and one of the a-hole groomsmen requested "F Her Gently" by Tenacious D (I think). That was inappropriate. But because it was a request, the stupid DJ played it.
Faith, don't hire that DJ. That's first off. Jeez, I can't believe that.
My advice: Do not restrict your DJ too much. If you have a song you absolutely HATE, ok, tell him. And he expects for you to tell him the genres of music you enjoy. But if he's a good DJ he'll feel out the crowd and play what makes everyone get up and dance. So if it's YMCA, then he should play that. My DJ was awesome. He got all the dead beats up on the dance floor and kept them there. He even played the Marine's Hymn to thank Roly for his commitment to the MC and to honor all the Marines who have served before him and are serving now. That was amazing!!
Please make sure you either watch videos of weddings your DJ has worked or get a recommendation from a great friend who has exactly the same expectations as you have.
Ultimately, he's the professional. Let him do his/her thing.
Can't wait for the next random question. hahaha.

Hun my advice is just to tallk to your DJ and work with him or her and see if they have any suggestions for what not to play. I do agree with the rest of the ladies and say to play the really funny dance songs because out of all the weddings I have been to have all played them and they are the must danced songs at events like weddings, birthday parties, and we even play it on Saturdays nights at work to get all the bowlers dancing.

EEEK! I hate that song... I'd say put that on the list haa! I would hope the DJ would have common sense NOT to play something like that!!!
Personally I love all the fun songs, but I hate the orignal electric slide, don't know why, but I'd probably leave it anyway cause others will dance to it. I know Jimmy isn't having a say for the songs cause he hates those stupid songs like Soulja Boy and he'd have them all banned, when people would actually have fun dancing to it. Other than you hating a specific song or genre, I would suggest just saying nothing vulgar.
