Tell me about your wedding day.

Tell me about your wedding day PRIOR to the ceremony.  When did you get your hair done?  Your makeup?  When did you get dressed?  When/where did you meet up with your girls?  Give me an approximate timeline for how you got ready on the day of your ceremony.  :D  Thanks!!!!!!!

Re: Tell me about your wedding day.

My bridesmaids picked me up the morning of the wedding and we all went to a salon together to get our hair done around 8 am!  Where we went.. they had a cheese and cracker plate and everyone got mimosas... mmm.  The lady at the desk referred to it as "not enough to get you drunk but enough to... take off the edge" haha  It did relax me a little bit!  It was fun with all of us girls just sittin around munchin on some crackers and gettin all pretty!  Davids Bridal completely screwed up one of my girls dresses.  She ordered a size 2 and it was too big on her (4 wks after having a baby.. that brat! haha).. well when they did the alteration they made it ridiculously small and she couldnt fit into it. so the morning of the wedding, she got her hair done and had to run to davids bridal and have them do whatever they could to fix it.  They rigged it up some pathetic way and she could fit into it, but they told her she couldnt take it off until the end of the day because as soon as she tries to undo the zipper, it was gonna break and she wouldnt be able to get it back up hahaha talk about stress!!!!  So there I was.. it was like 11.. the ceremony was at 12:30 and one of my bridesmaids was still at davids bridal gettin her dress fixed! haha oh you can bet we got some cash back from that!!!!! haha  It all worked out though and the wedding was beautiful!  I didnt freak out at all until right before I walked down the isle. That was when it finally hit me.  I got teary eyed for about a second and then I told myself to suck it up and I was ok! haha

The night before my ceremony my mom put those foam curlers into my hair so that I could sleep in them over night. I got up at like 5am the next morning to attempt to finish my vows, lol. We were not allowed in the church until 2 hours before the ceremony (which I didn't like). The ceremony was at 2, my bestfriend arrived at my house at 11:30 (he was one of the groomsmen) and then we headed to the church (Chris was already out with his family and not at the house). I got there and the bridesmaids met me there (along with some friends since a bunch of my friends all came together). I got them all situated into the rooms they needed to be in and then started getting ready. Chris's aunt came back and did my hair (I had already taken the curlers out). After my hair was done my mom's bestfriend did my makeup. We got my dress on and got everyone in place and then it was time to start..it all happened very quickly..so quickly and I was such a nervous wreck making sure that everyone else was situated that I forgot to wear the pearls that my parents had bought me, so the only jewlery I had on was the engagement ring.

Re: Tell me about your wedding day.

OK My wedding day: I woke up around 7am... then decided that it was much too early so i went back to sleep for another hour. LOL (if you can do this, kudos because you'll want the extra sleep). I had already told my girls to be at my house by like 10am. My hair appt was just me and the photographer at 9am. She rode with me in the MINI lol. got my hair done. When i got back to the house George went in our room and stayed there so i could say hello to the guys (Marines) and check in with mom. Then i went upstairs and George and the guys left to finish getting ready. One BM alread had her hair done, and the other two were almost done and getting their make up touched up. My MOH did thier hair and makeup. then i sat down and she did mine. when my make up was done i just had to put on my falsh lashes and we were ready to go. *make sure you go pee before going to the ceremony location* It was sometime during us all finishing up our faces that i grabed some ritz and some baby dill pickles to eat for brunch. We were running a little late but not by much to get to the ceremony so i wasn't worried. Grabbed my dress and thier dresses and off we went. 5 minutes later, we were there. lol they slipped into their dresses while i put on my bra and my crenoline. Then my MOH helped me get into my dress and zip up. then we had about fifteen minutes to just relax before the ceremony in my little bridal room. dad came in and the groomsmen. we played with our flowers and decided how to hold them. it was fun. then i linked arms with my dad and got a little choked up but then rolled my eyes at myself and said knock it the f*** off and get myself together! then down we went right on time at noon.

Re: Tell me about your wedding day.

Awww. This is a cute post, Faith. Getting a jump on things, huh? LOL.

Let's see. I had my hands done the day before the wedding at 10am...the place doesn't take appointments on weekends and they open at 10am. :) That way, I wouldn't be worried about wet nails on the day of the wedding.

That night we had the rehearsal dinner (we actually had the rehearsal the Thursday prior because of the schedule provided by the venue, but my brother and his familyl were in town so I wanted him to meet my new family). It was very relaxed. Everyone had a great time. We left around midnight.  And yes, Roly and I spent the night before the wedding together...come on, we've lived together for the past 4+ years and he was leaving in 20 days for SOI...:)

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast at 9am with my brother and his family. At 10am I headed back home to get my veil and tiara and left for the mall at 1030am. I had my hair done at 11am. They booked a private room just for me with wine, cheese, crackers and fruit. My sister (MOH) showed up around 1130am to watch me finish up with my hair and have hers done at 12noon. Once my hair was done (1230p), I walked down the little breezeway to Nordstrom's MAC counter to have my makeup done. I sat there for about 20 minutes because my artist was busy. The photographer arrived at that time and took some photos of the makeup and other stuff around. My makeup artist did my makeup and put on false eyelashes in record time...I think 40 minutes. I paid for the eyelashes and we took some shots in the mall. It's an open mall, so very pretty.

    K. Got to my mom's house around 2p to get ready. Roly got ready at our apartment. I asked him to meet me at my mom's house at 230p to take preliminary portraits and ride up to the place together. (We were taking pics before the ceremony b/c sunset was at 530, same time as ceremony start, so pics before sunset are always prettier.) He got there at 230p on point, but I, of course, wasn't ready yet. My mom was lacing up my corset, and I was getting upset b/c I asked her to please do this before I got there so that it wouldn't take up too much time...oh well. I finished getting ready about 3p and the photographer set up "first time seeing eachother" shots in my mom's neighborhood. That was really nice. We finished with that around 315p and I was shocked that the car hadn't arrived. It was supposed to have arrived at 245p....I called my caterer (b/c she was coordinating this all). She screamed at someone and we got a Lincoln to pick up us (we were supposed to ride in an old Rolls, but am I glad we didn't. Apparently those old cars all smell like gas. So a 30 min ride...and we would've both smelled like a frickin' gas station..) We got to the Monastery around 415p (my original plan was 330p-430p at monastery to take portraits...). We took portraits, had some family arrive early to take portraits before as well. Finished with portraits around 520p...still had a few to get, but that was ok...it cut down on the after ceremony picture taking and gave us more time to enjoy the reception. The ceremony started late, maybe around 545p, because my bestest friends were running late and Roly asked if we could wait....grrr. hahahaha.

Ceremony started. It was beautiful. It finally hit me right before I walked down the aisle as well. hahaha. When my song started (Bendita Tu Luz, Mana) I started jamming and down the aisle we went. It was amazing. After the ceremony, the DJ played, I Feel Good by James Brown and the party was ON!!!

I made a detailed timeline before the day of the wedding for me and the parents and my sister. It pretty much worked out as planned, just got a little pushed back at the end....but it was awesome. OH and it went my SUPER FAST...I was like, it's 11p already??? That's okay though because we got our suitcases and hopped in the other Town Car that was waiting to take us to the Mandarin Oriental hotel for our honeymoon night!!!!

    Ok so here ya go:

    7:00 Get up...have a quick breakfast...shower

    8:30 Hairdresser

    9:30 Back home...doing my Make-up...get dressed

10:15 Driving to the courthouse for our civil wedding

    11:00 Civil wedding

12:00 Lunch at the greek's restaurant

13:30 Hairdresser again and getting a new professionell Make-up

16:30 Hurry Hurry Hurry home bc the church wedding starts in 15 minutes...i am not dressed...totally stressed...totally mad at my hairdreser bc he worked so slowly...rrrrrrrr!!!

16:40 Getting dressed...ready to loose my mind...short before crying....i hate my hair and everything and everyone else.

17:00 Sitting in the car...driving to the church...hubby calls bc he's afraid that i am not coming...lol.

17:00 Ohhhh ok i am in the church..hubby is there...i got my little prosecco before...ready to walk down the isle.

    18:00 End of the ceremony

    18:30 PARTYYYYYYY

So hun...the best thing to do is...First have enough time between the civil and the church wedding ( if you're going to get married on one eday). Second plan enough time for the hairdresser and Make-up...it ruins the whole day when it gets stressy.

    Good luck!!!

    @Ajax Girl

Yes we have to....you can only have a church wedding when got married civil before. We had our civil wedding in the morning and they had to do all the paper work in a few hours before we needed them for our church wedding. We can do the civil wedding in a courthouse or somewhere else ( hotel, castle, at the beach) but you need a marriage registrar.

haha aww I'm glad I could help!!  A lot of things went wrong on my wedding day.  the dress i told you about from davids bridal.  my cake was leaning to the side and about to fall over.  the photographer was also the limo driver (it said so in the contract) but then the day of the wedding, when we were all getting into the limo, we had another driver and our photographer was like "oh i want to get to the reception early to get pictures before everyone gets there, so this guy is gonna drive you"  so we were like.. ok whatever.. well when we got to the reception the photographer then informed us the our driver was standing there waitin for his tip.  like a $25 tip!!  I'm like.. excuse me!?!  first of all.. YOU were supposed to be the driver because it came with the package.  No one had money on them.  ughhh i HATED my photographer.  He took a video too.. and in that video.. he didnt even show me walking down the isle.   grr! haha anyway.. the point i'm trying to make is.. things ARE going to go wrong.  Dont let those things stress you out, because everything will fall into place and it will be the best day of your life!!!!  When i found out my friends dress was screwed up, i was fine.  when i found out my cake was leaning, i freaked and that was the only time i actually cried haha. I was so excited about my cake, but we just decided to do the toast and cut the cake before dinner instead of after, so that we didnt have to worry about any embarrasing cake toppling accidents haha  the photographer.. well he just sucked but i have enough good pictures from friends that I dont need his anyways haha!!  It's gonna be the best day of your life hun.. and no little detail going wrong will stop that!
