    Thank You Gift for Parents

Hey. So...our wedding was paid for (just about in full) by my mother. She immediately volunteered to sponsor it from the beginning. She gave me a budget and whatever extra we spent, Roly and I paid for. His family didn't make a move to even host the rehearsal dinner. Yea. (No that's not bitterness in my typing...) Anyway, my mom paid the photographer to create a coffee table book for us - those are those "new" books they create in PhotoShop with the photos printed right on the pages. Nice hard cover book. 10"x10". I want to give her a really great gift to thank her for basically making our wedding possible. At least the beautiful wedding I dreamed up. :) I was thinking I'd ask the photographer to make her a book as well.

My question: Should I have a second copy of our book made to give to her? Should I choose different pictures and make her a personal book just for her? Maybe 8"x8"? Same size? What would you do?

    Thanks!!!

I gave my mom a second copy of our book....given I still haven't seen it since the photographer gave it to my mom and I am waiting to recieve it in the mail haha but yea my mom loved the book so I ordered her a second copy and she's so excited! I am having a hard time trying to decide what to give my father to Thank him...just like you my parents covered the ENTIRE cost of the wedding....his side did not help with 1 single thing...I guess they were upset it wasn't in Michigan. But either way I can't think of what to do for him he just retired last week with 33 years as a police officer and he was a Marine so I am trying to think of something that has to do with all that. I feel I could never repay or show my grattitude for everything they have done for me, our pretty darn close to 20,000 wedding that they were so happy to give me. awww...I'm just tearing up thinking about it...haha but anyways ...

I think the book is a great idea!! sorry I started to ramble...hope I helped though Smile

Yea, thanks. The more I think about it, the more perfect it seems. My little mom was happy to pay for it all, too. Well, I'm sorry your in-laws didn't help, but at least we're not alone!

I saw your post in the Open Wives forum. Congrats to your dad. That's awesome! I have NO idea what you could get him. I was trying to come up with something as amazing as his service....I'm sure someone has great ideas.

I think a second book would be a perfect idea as well. We haven't fully discussed costs for the big wedding yet, but my parents have offered to foot a large amount already, and his haven't said a word....Guess there's a theme going here lol. I've been meaning to have Patrick politely ask if they were planning on contributing or not, just so we could budget accordingly. I think your mom would love a book though, I know mine would!

There is definatly some bitterness towards my MIL about wedding stuffs too.....she didnt even buy us a flippin card, much less offer to pay for any part of the wedding. I compleatly understand.

I love the idea of the book, I would definatly get your mom one, but as far as your MIL goes maybe an 8X10 framed....or nothing??? I can be a little bitter about the situation.
