New Member. (I hope this is the right forum.

Hello everyone. I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Zeb. I am a poole in the Marine Corps. I am set to go to MCRD on December 17th. I have wanted to become a Marine since I was very young. I will be a 4th gen. Marine if all goes as planned. I am enlisted in 0311. I turned down a lot of football offers (even a couple D1 schools... Hardest decision in my life as football is my second passion.) Just thought I would pop in and say hello.

Hey Zeb,welcome aboard young man. Your always welcome here but the Newbies and Poolees forum is where you'll find a lot of people like yourself and also a few old Marines who give some good advice on what to expect.

Here is the link showing all the forums on Grit's. Just scorll down it a little til you see the Newbies section.

Passing on Division 1 football scholarships had to be a hard decision. My prayers that it all works out for the best for you.

Good luck with boot starting next month.

         Chris

Later that night, while I was thinking about the day's somber events, Cpl. Richard A. Mason, an infantryman with Headquarters Platoon, who, in the short time I was with the company became a good friend, told me, "You're still here, don't forget that. Tell your kids, your grandkids, what Sgt. Peralta did for you and the other Marines today."
Quote from a story written by combat correspondent LCpl Travis J. Kaemmerer who, unfortunately, died in a car crash in Virginia after returning from Iraq.

Zeb, welcome to the Newbie Forum.  Here you will find most of the information you need.  The Marines on this forum are the best mentors you will ever have, they will help you a lot if you let them.

Captain, Welcome Aboard Sir! This is for newbies to the Corps. You Sir, are entitled to peruse any other section you wish.

Zeb, I went to PI on Dec. 18th, 1985. Trust me, it's a Christmas you'll never forget! And I mean that in a good way. Best of luck my young friend. Keep this in mind, it's not physical, it's all mental. All of it. Keep your head on straight, execute every order on time and correctly, and you'll be fine.

My mistake: I thought this section was for people new to the FORUMS. Anyhow, whether I have anything worthwhile to contribute or not remains to be seen. Semper Fi, y'all...
