    I sent Brad a small fake tree that ran on AA batteries and I also put "Real" tree garland in a long paper tube and folded it up in the box. He said he wrapped the garland around the tree so it smelled nice. I also made stockings, wreaths, Advent calanders, door hangers and sent small strand of christams lights to decorate. EVERYTHING WAS WRAPPED! However the box of decorations went first with a note on top that said open as soon as you get these. Then the second box that just had gifts had an ote that said "ah ah ah not till christmas day"

     Leah-

    I was hoping you would reply since peaking through this site for carepackage ideas I came across yours that are so very inventive!

    I will definintely have to figure out how to include a real garland to try and get that real Christmas tree scent. Now I am thinking maybe I will get a package  out tomorrow with just the decorations in it. hmmm. Did you send an adapter as well? (I know they are on a different voltage system.)

    As for my ideas I think I will throw them out there if anyone finds them useful:

     STOCKING STUFFERS

    *one of the mini lego sets

    *tins of mints

    * Snow Globe with my picture/ picture of friends/ a palm tree in it. (without the water)

    * puzzles

    *a brain teaser

    *stress ball

    * mini travel games

    *comic book

    *hand warmers (I have read that right now these are very well liked)

    *gel insoles for him only (it be kind of wierd to send them to the other guys)

    *girly pens (how can i resist!)

    * there used to be small cheap hand held remote cars, i have yet to find them though (one for each of the guys)

    * flannel boxers

    * a little book of personal gift certificates

    Thanks for you input! And I would love to hear some more ideas from everyone!

    Happy Holidays! Smile

    For Christmas I sent a little fake tree with lights that were ran by batteries, and tiny decorations.

    I made up 12 stockings for the guys he was with.  I ordered the stockings and a bunch of stuff from Oriental Trading and then bought travel size tubes of lotion, soap, shampoo things like that.  I DHs special with his favorite shampoo and smell good stuff.

    Some of the stuff I ordered from Oriental Trading:  Little Holiday activty pads, kaldoscopes, stress balls, bubbles, bouncy balls, paddle balls, cheap toys.

    Most things on oriental trading you can by in lots, which is great when doing up a bunch of stockings (or whatevers) ya know.

    I think sending a fake tree is genius! I never would have thought to do that! I'm going to start getting a Christmas care package together for my soldier, and I am def. going to send him one. The Big Lots by my job has them super cheap too. Great stocking stuffer ideas too! Yay for Christmas! I love it so much, and I think spreading the Christmas spirit to our deployed is such a nice feeling to spread. I'd love to be able to send "real" tree garland too, that's an awesome idea. Good work ladies!

    I mean, I am willing to wait for Valentine's Day... but if we all just put our creative minds together! Geeked

    Some of the necessities might be gloves, beanies, and socks?  My girlfriends hubby is deployed, and that's some stuff they requested.  I'm kinda stressed cause she just asked me to do 10 boxes by Dec. 4, so I'm rushing to get stuff.  You guys helped me get some ideas though!

    This reminded me of something else I sent him. I too wanted to mail myself, but obviously it would be too heavy of a box to send and with no food water or a bathroom, well it just wasnt going to work. So instead I got a large long sheet of butcher paper and just like back in elementry school I layed down on it and had someone trace my body on it. I sprayed the heck out of it with my perfume, pasted an enlarged picture of my face on it, drew some hair and decorated the rest with clothes and happy sayings, then I folded it up in a box wrapped it and put a bow on it and the little sticky card said "here I am!" so in a way I sent a part of myself!
