    Washing Machine

CRAP! There is something wrong with my washer. It started making a strange noise and now it wont spin. ARG.

    Appliance repair guy or plumber??

It doesn't get any better than this!

    Amanda,

Appliance repair... not a plumber. All a plumber does is get water to the washer! If the washer agitates but doesn't spin, it may be a transmission problem. Make sure you get an estimate before getting it repaired, as many times (depending on the age and model of the washer) it's just as cheap to buy new. Best of luck.

    Semper Fi, all.

Amanda, hopefully you have the problem resolved by now, but just in case you haven't, there is a pretty helpful website that can help you diagnose, maybe even fix, the problem:

    Re: Washing Machine

Unfortunately did not read this thread until today. One thing to look for if this happens to anyone else, is to take a look under the washing machine for small bearings. If there are any, it is just the thrust bearings that the washing tub sits on. They can be replaced fairly easily ( for the do-it -yourself types ) and are not pricey ( less than $10 if memory serves me correctly ).  Hope this helps .
