That's the reason for talking to the recruiter first....DONT sign anything untill you talk to him/her....When I first signed up, My recruiter checked his book, they normally get a print out of what MOS's are full, what is open...etc... I chose 6500 field Aviation Ordnance, and was given the option of 3 different Duty Stations....My first was Hawaii, my 2nd was Cherry Point North Carolina, my third was El Toro, CA.....I lucked out and got my first pick of Hawaii....
I dont know how they do it now, but I'm sure if you ask the recruiter, they'll be able to tell you what MOS is open, and will be able to find out what Station needs them...it will also depend on WHEN you plan on going to boot camp as well...numbers and quota's change all the time...but I wouldn't sign ANYTHING until you get the answers you seek, or you might wind up becoming a MOS of ID-10-T emptying latrines in Adak Alaska :))
