If I tell you the truth...

If I tell you the truth and you refuse to believe me, who is the fool?  Me, for pursuing an idea that enlightens and trying to share that enlightenment with you, or you, for closing your mind away from the truth?  At what point does one say to themselves, "I don't have time for this sh1t, if you wish to be "Ignorant" of the truth, then so be it?  Does the refusal to believe emperical evidence make you an idiot in the sense of "Foolish idiot" or the lack of knowledge to comprehend type of "Idiot who has no clue" which would not make them "Foolish" only someone you need to keep sharp objects away from.

Who would be more dangerous to be around and allowed to propagate?  An ignorant person because of choice, or an ignorant person because they just can't get it?

If you are within reason, a normal person, you can make desicions based on learned structure, you know pain and you know pleasure, you realize danger and safety..etc..., and I tell you that hitting your finger with a 1 pound hammer hurts like he!! and can cause injury, and you do it anyway, are you stupid or are you just testing the scientific bounds of my information?  Does one need to be jettisoned into outter space to learn that there is no oxygen there?  The results for the jettisoned are terminal, yet the observers have a d@mned fine popcorn moment.

Is it cruel, for the informed or enlightened to keep the idiots at bay and let them go around hitting themselves with hammers?  Are they hitting themselves with hammers because it's something new? Or is it because we told them it's a bad thing to do and they say "Phuck it, I'll do just as I please, pass me a hammer...."

So, while not getting to edgey here, I'd like to know.  I mean really, I'm at a loss for the behavior of some folks.  Since I don't have a degree in mental health studies...I'd want some input from some plain speak folk that I can relate to....jozey, since you are lurking...feel free to chime in, just keep it out of the political rink.

I felt a nudge on my foot under the table, I looked down and there amongst the crumbs and fetid matter was a feral liberal. I spoke to it and said, "You filthy liberal!"....it looked back at me with a smile on it's face and said, "Oink!"

If you hit your thumb with a one-pound hammer, and no one is around, did a scream actually pass your lips ?

Each of us have to decide whether we want to pass along TRUTH.  If the "receivers" choose not to heed it, the problem is theirs, not yours.  NOT passing along the truth doesn't make you guilty, especially if you've done so in the past, only to have it disregarded.

In a related theme, I've posted what I considered worthwhie info in the past, only to have it buried by 40 replies to the nomenclature of a tent stake.  It doesn't take long to get a Skru-It attitude.

Kurt, Apparently people don't want to know the truth. Even if you put it out there they would call you a liar. If people wanted to know the truth the would go right to the source and ask or they would research. They would question things. They would want to validate things. Instead they intake and propagate rumors as the truth. Sadly, it is just the nature of some people. They are not willing to do what it takes to seek and listen to the truth. They are not willing to be open minded and understand that everything they hear on on TV, read on internet or hear from a person that was not in the situation or that may not have had full disclosure of what was happening isn't the best sourse for the truth. The best explination I have is human nature....

Kurt, if you mean telling the truth in a forum such as this bulletin board, I say go for it -- while you may get 40 replies about the incorrect nomenclature of a tent stake, your posts are probably viewed by twice or three times that number of viewers, many of whom either followed a link that you posted, or popped over to google and did a search to verify it -- this is an education for them.

I've always figured that ignorance is a lack of knowledge, while stupidity is pride in the lack of knowledge.  That means that ignorance can be cured (although it is sometimes a lifetime's work) while stupidity cannot be cured as long as the person continues to process air.

Re: If I tell you the truth...

I think that the truth at times may be clouded by perception.  The truth to a young child may be skewed by their past experience or the lack there of.  The truth to a less-than-mental-giant is skewed by their lack of knowledge and their past experience or lack there of.  And as Renee said, many people do not want to know the truth.  They are happy in their own little world.  The truth may cause them to change.  Change is not necessarily greeted with open arms.

Perception always counts for more than reality in our world. I believe this comes from our ancient past when we had to make quick decisions regarding things we saw. If we got it right nothing would happen to us. If we got it wrong, well, we wound up as a pile of lion poo on the savanna.

So you are willing to go out on a limb and show us you are an @ss and debate a hammer strike to your finger isn't painful?  And claim it's perception.  Your dumber then a box of rocks.  And you are actually breathing.  Proof that God shows mercy.

And as usual, Jozey come up with yet another name for me...and contributes nothing of value to the conversation.  Shooting for par...eh?
