    Christmas Card Project!

    Hi ladies,

It's that time of year again and I want to try to get an early start.  We need to start planning our card signing parties (mini Gritogethers).  For those of you that are new to this or have not participated in the past.. Ladies that are close to each other, plan one day to get together and sign a bunch of Christmas cards.

This year I would like to send the Christmas cards out by the 2nd week of November.

I have a couple Units that are deployed over Christmas.  My goal this year is to have a minimum of 800 Christmas cards to send out.

    How it works:

    * Everyone brings 2 or more boxes of Christmas cards with them to the party.

    * In each card you write a little message to a Marine. (I have a list of sample messages you can write.)

    * Sign your name and include "From the Family at grunt.com"

    * On the outside of the Envelope put " United States Marine"

    * Do not seal the Envelopes.

    * Once the all the cards are signed put them in a box and send them to me.

    * When I receive them I will include a separate message in each one to send an invite for the Marine and his family to join our fourms.

Please let me know when your parties are so I can get an estimate of when to expect the cards.  Right now I have about 5 HUGE boxes of goodies to send along with them.Yellow Ribbon

    Re: Christmas Card Project!

Here are some things you can write inside the cards if you like:

You make my holidays brighter knowing you're watching over me.

I could never receive a better gift than knowing a Marine is watching my back. Thank you.

Your service is the greatest gift I could ever receive. Thank you.

I’m thinking of you this Christmas and every day. Best wishes of the season.

Please know that I am in awe of your service and dedication to us here at home. You make the world a better place.

Although you’re far from home right now, just know that there are many people here that are sending you love and good wishes.

At this time of celebration of our Lord’s birth, I’m reminded of my gratitude for his sacrifice and for your sacrifices for our country.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and give you peace. Thank you for your service to all of us.

What would we do without people like you? Your love and dedication to our country humbles me. Best wishes for the holiday season.

What better gift could I receive than your service to our country and to me? Thank you!

The joy that you give to others, is the joy that comes back to you. Happy holidays!

Christmas is not a date or a place. It is a state of mind. Best wishes of the season!

If there is no way to give a festive gift, just give the gift of love. You give us all love by your service to our country. Thank you!

What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus? Claustrophobic. Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas! Thanks for your service!

Why does Scrooge love Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Because every buck is dear to him. Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas! Thanks for your service!

You are not alone at all. You have never been alone at all. And that, of course, is the wondrous message of Christmas. Thank you for your service.

The joy of brightening other’s lives and bearing their heavy burdens are the gifts you give through your service to our country. Thank you.

Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day. Thanks for your service!

It is said that on Christmas Eve all animals can speak. But it’s not a good idea to test this on a camel. Ho Ho Ho - Merry Christmas! Thanks for your service!

What more can I say on this special day but that I’m sending you my gratitude in this small way. Thanks for being there for me.

You make a difference every day. What greater gift could I ever receive? Thank you for your service.

Greetings of the season from a grateful American. Thank you!

Thinking of you with love and gratitude for your service.

Greetings of the season! I appreciate your service to me, my family and our country.

Thinking of you warmly and with gratitude for your protection. Thank you.

I would love to participate in this project..... I'm not exactly sure if there are any Gritogethers in my area, but I live 2 hours from Dallas/Fort Worth and if theres any there, I wouldn't mind going.  If there's no Gritogether in that area, I still wouldn't mind signing some cards (I can recruit my daughter for the project too...LOL) and send them your way!

    Ann-

I would love to do that. I don't live near any girls so i'll invite friends and family for sure. Add me to the list. I'll go a Halloween/Christmas card signing gathering since you want them by the second week of November. Can i get your address to send the boxes to?

Here's my plan: Have the gathering on the 20th or 27th. Send of the boxes out cards the 22nd or 29th.

Ann, I would love to do this again. Last year I was home in AK so I was the only Grits girl, but I got a group of people from my church to help me out. This year I would love to do something with the girls here in Oceanside/Camp Pendleton area. I don't know how we should go about doing a Gritogether - but my place is kind of small to accomidate more than.... 4 or 5 other girls....

So if anyone else from this area is interested, PM me!!!! Maybe we could do a couple of mini get-togethers.... I would even be willing to host one here at my place....

I don't think I have any Grits ladies close to me, but I'm just going to get a box, sign 'em, and mail them off to you. Does that work? :) I'll do it this weekend!

Hey Rita I received your email, but couldn't send it back because of an invalid address so I am replying here.

Thanks for your support!  I will add your Marines to my list.  You can send the boxes whenever you have them ready.  I need them any time before November 16th.
