    Gutter Screens

Well, after observing water literally shooting out of the seams of the downspout and also a couple of corners are leaking I called a local gutter company. I have 6" gutters. They are going to come out next week and clean the gutters and put some goo in the leaky seams for $150.00. Is this a resonable price? The man said I might consider screens, particularly a fine mesh screen called EZ-Slide. But I have been reading reviews by homeowners and honestly as many say screens are great as those who say they are pain. It seems that even with screens, there are still problems with small material getting into the gutters and they still have to be cleaned out. Some leaf guards attach with screws to the actual roof and I read that that can cause water leaks in the house! I also read about the ones that attach with screws right to the gutters and make the gutters even stronger. This can be good in winter when Ice forms on the gutters. But, THEN, I read that some screens make ice build-up worse than ever, especially those "gutter helmets" that stick out over the gutters. Now, the guy did tell me that he doesn't recommend the helmets. My gutters are made of aluminum so thank God I don't have to worry about rust. They do collect debris and have to be cleaned out but not very often. After a really hard rain, they seem to wash themselves out, at least I have seen junk rushing out of the downspouts. I think I'm going to just leave things as they are and have the leaks plugged and have them cleaned them out. I was just wondering if anyone here has screens or helmets that they actually like and that work?? Are they expensive?

I removed my gutters because they always got clogged with debris from the oak trees.  I recommend leaving them as they are, and maybe just putting some acrylic sealant on places you saw it leak.

I decided to do just that. Thanks. I wish I could just remove the darned things like you did. I . Water hoses..... I just have a gripe, now...I have a coupler/connector on one of my hoses to add another length of hose to make it longer. I put a rubber washer inside. No matter how tight I screw it onto the hose, it ALWAYS leaks. I have tried various connectors and have NEVER found one that didn't spray me when I'm dragging it around the yard. Super Angry

Well, have some fun with it and play shower in the yard!

Haha! Oh, I do on a hot day! I bought myself a nice brass nozzle, too. Had no idea the pressure it would generate. The hose was lying out in the yard and I turned it on full blast. I turned around in time to see the thing rising up 5 feet off the ground like a cobra, pointed itself right me and nearly blasted me off my feet.
