    Total and Complete disgust.

Okay, Ya'll know I'm in the Army Reserves now.  The unit is the 2/290th out of Oklahoma City at the Billy Krowse Army Reserve center at 36th St.  There are some really great Soldiers there that I respect and have made friends with.  A lot of good old boys and girls that come from the MP's, Eng's and Grunts.  There are the floaters that have no idea why they are there, but they are.  There is a tight cadre of 7 former Marines that are split up across the unit.  All except one are in troop leading positions, and the one, is a young SSgt that  has not been cleared to train yet (We are a Training Support Battalion) so it's a matter of getting him in a 2 week class and doing a right seat ride to be qualified (Semantics more or less).Anyway, we had one Soldier (Sgt Bean) that had transferred from the Navy back in 2001 and joined this unit.  He came over as an E-5 Sgt and was good to go.  He was put in for promotion and was fully qualified to be promoted, he had all of his classes and his packet was groomed.  The BN Sgt Major (Command Sgt Major or CSM Cassandra Redd) kicked the packet back and said that the promotion would not go forward.  No explanation or reason was given. This Sgt and his team went over the packet again, he earned a few more class credits and they waited the 6 months to submit it again.  It was kicked back again by the CSM, again no reason given.  When the Soldier and his team leader approached the CSM, she more or less stone walled him and when he (The Sgt) became agitated with the lack of response, the CSM Redd tried to charge him with disrespect and a few other things. This Sgt used his chain of command to protest and he was pretty much shut down by the commander LTC Roberson, stating the CSM had a reason and her choice was good to him. This Sgt went to his congressman, Congressman Lucas of Oklahoma.  A congressional was submitted and a lot of heat came down on the command and at the Brigade at Ft. Sill in Lawton Oklahoma.  The congressman's aide that interviews the military for finds was stone walled by LTC Roberson, with hang ups and no returns on letters and e-mails.  The consensus was, "If I don't pay attention to this, it will go away".A lot of heat was poured on and at the same time, Sgt Bean was diagnosed with cancer, he started having treatment that was very aggressive, and the prognosis was not good.  When he found out that he had only 4 to 6 months to live, LTC Roberson allowed him to be promoted to Staff Sergeant.  SSGT Bean passed away on Wenesday 5 Sept 2007.  On Sunday morning we had a ceremony.  SSGT Beans family was escorted in and they sat front and to the left of the Dias.  LTC Roberson dressed in class "A" uniform (Alphas) with a dip in his front lip, sat silently, the CMS in class "A' uniform also sitting to the right of the Roberson, chomping on a piece of gum, occasionally snapping it.  I sat 3 rows behind and could see her jaw working away.LTC Roberson spoke so great of SSGT Bean.  At the end, all members of the unit went forward and came to attention and saluted the Rifle, boots and Helmet with ID tags of SSGT Bean, there was a large photo of him to the left.  The CSM Went forward and she was chomping away, brought her hand up to salute but curled the fingertips inwards to the palm (Not a correct salute at all) and dropped her hand sloppily, she then stepped forward and placed a 75th Div Welcome coin on the display, we are not even part of the 75th Div, and this damned sure wasn't a "Welcome" event She has her own CSM coins with 2/290th Bn on them, but evidently SSGT Bean and his family don't rate one.  She did a left face and walked out.  No stopping by the family to lend condolence or anything.Every Soldier and person present saw this and knew what had happened.  I am beside myself to say the least.SSGT Bean was a boots on the ground Sailor in DS/DS, he earned his awards and he fought the good fight.  With all that he went through, this command totally disgusted itself by the actions of the past and the present.  I don't know where to start or with whom to report such behavior.  If there are any of you that can but some pressure on these to clowns, it would be appreciated.Rest in peace SSG Bean.

What a fricking biatch.  She disgraces the military uniform and her rank. It is a shame that she is in any position of leadership.  I would love the opportunity to question her actions directly, feel free to email her phone number or email address to me, the source of this information will of course be annonymous - of course.  I said Semper Fidelis for the first time in 1974 and I carry that with me always, if any of my family hurts so do I...

As a senior NCOcan you not organize a mut...uh protest to the CSM and let her know that her t*rd laying did not go unrecognized?  I mean as a group so that not just one soldier has to take heat.  Sounds as though the US Rep wasn't much interested or would have gone to Bde CO.

BTW - it IS the farggin Army.

    Re: Total and Complete disgust.

    Burkie,

I talked it up and was informed that there is some sort of elbow rubbing thing going on with her, the BDE and DIV CSM's.  I don't know what could shield a turd like this, but evidently it is in place.  The attrition rate is at an all time high with people getting out at 20 years and or trying to transfer to another unit.

There are currently 3 Congressional's going against the command (LTC and CSM) and no one seems to care....it is a mystery to me.  I've contacted the VFW, VA, Oklahoma City news papers and TV stations, DoD and the Army Reserve command along with my Senator Claire McKaskill.  No one can come up with a viable reason as to why these two numbnuts are around.  I do not get it.

If anyone knows how to make this happen, if you want to jump in, I'm at a complete loss.

    Re: Total and Complete disgust.

Kurt, I'm in total agreement with you on your Subject/Title here.  The actions of those few are deplorable.  Instead of "going through the motions", more would've been served by their absense.

My following, although only slightly similar, might provide some food for thought, and I'm purposely omitting most names for obvious reasons...

One of my sons was attached to the Green Bay Marines, a part of the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, HQ in New Orleans, when General Al Gray became Commandant.  With the General being particularily concerned about security, he had representatives contact each Marine unit to determine their readiness.  Since a steel picket fence with an open gate was the utmost there, it was deemed time to improve the situation.  A call went out for volunteers for MPs, and since police work was my son's aim, he was accepted.  It would be on-the-job training until the next class at Lackland Air Force base.  My son, even though he was qualified up to D-9 Cat operations, became an "almost MP", along with 5 other Marines.

When the MP school was to start, the list for attendees came up from 4thMAW, and my son's name wasn't on it.  His Skipper, a Mustang Captain, phoned 4thMAW HQ and "demanded" and explaination from a WM Gunny who'd formulated that list.  His attitude with her prompted her to transfer him to her CO, a Major.  The Leaf the said he'd stand by his Gunny's decision.  End of story?  No way.

Getting the details, I spent 7 full days, phoning a certain individual at 0800, 1200, and 1700, at a Florida location, and a Wisconsin location.  On day #7, at 1700, "Colonel Joe" answered, in Wisconsin.  The Colonel had met my son many times at MCL picnics, etc., and befriended him, and gave me a classified address to send the details to.  That address belonged to "the right hand man" of, as the Colonel called him, "The Man".

Not long after that, and coincidentally the day before my son was to attend another Reserve meeting, a large manilla envelope arrived at my house.  Many of us have received stuff from "Headquarters, Marine Corps", but this one came from "Office of the Commandant", so I took particular notice.  Enclosed was a letter, directly to me, from a LtCol, stating basically that a "mistakehas been made", and now corrected.  Attached to that letter were numerous small, yellow Post-Its, all in chronological order, such as "Jim, a friend of MOH/WWII needs help.  Let's get this back on track. Joe".  Then Joe's to Mike.  Then Mike's note...and so on.

Marines, our beloved Medal of Honor Society stepped in where no politican dared to tread.  My Friend, Colonel Joseph Jerimiah McCarthy, made his Final Muster in 1993, but I'll never forget him.  It was at the Iwo Memorial in 2005 that I finally had the chance to personally thank "Colonel B", the receipient of my initial letter to Arlington, Virginia.

Kurt, I've offered something here.  If the ball can be picked up, I'm sure you'll carry it.

    Semper Fi to your Soldier.
