    Considering the Marine Corps

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

My name is Colton and I am 16 years old. I am a Junior in High School and I plan on enlisting in the Marine Corps next year in DEP. I have been wanting to enlist since the 9th grade, but wasn't sure on which branch. I narrowed my options to just the Marine Corps or the Army. I have 2 step-uncles currently in the Army, one is in Iraq. I have a grandfather that served in the Army as a Drill Sergeant, another grandfather that served in WW2, and a uncle that retired as a Sergeant Major. My classmates think I am stupid for wanting to enlist in the military, but that just fuels me with inner motivation. My family members, except my parents, don't want me to join the military due to the Iraq War. I come from a very conservative household, and I really want to serve my country and make a difference in the world. I've talked to the recruiter that visits our school, and I also talked with a recruiter over the phone. If anyone is currently in DEP, or has been in it, please post or PM me on what it is like.

    Thank you

Good for you for setting your goals.

I know we have a few GA boys around the newbie area.  If you post up in the Newbie Open area they'll see you.  And don't worry about your classmates, you will be suprised how many will think about joining come their Senior years.
