Reaper, I give you credit for coming back after we put you through a bit of a test. Good luck on your quest. Keep in mind that if you mind your manners and show proper respect, we are here for you. Paul

Nice job reaper! You took a step forward with your post. As was said above, keep up that attitude and commitment level and there is no one here that won't give you 100% to get you through!

Hang tough kid. If you decide on college that's ok too. You have to do what is right for you. But if you decide to join the Corps, you have a lot of people here ready to help you out.

Dearest Tom, of course you're not, we know that.  John you have shown yourself to be a strong individual not only mentally but in your heart where it matters.  These Marines here will help you in any way they can. You can not have a better group of mentors then the ones you will find on this Newbie Forum. You have shown yourself to be strong by coming back and not being petty or a whiner.  You just may make the grade and follow in these MEN'S, my daughter's and Renee's husband's footsteps.  Being a Marine is an awesome responsibility, not everyone can handle it.  It is up to you to decide if you are willing to take the challenge.

    Reaper....

I wasn't around for your first post, but you've shown that you're a strong and dedicated young man.

Anyway, just some food for thought... you can go to college and still become a Marine.  I did -- several years after I graduated in fact.  I wouldn't have traded my college experience, my life after, or now my time in the Corps for anything.  In fact, I think my postponing entering the Corps has helped me.

Pretty soon we can say "YAY!" again

He's just misguided! I can't say that in 1985 I was the perfect candidate. So, we do what we can. Cool

    Re: Future Marine?

I broke my pelvis twice, got married and divorced and had a myriad of unpleasant things happen to me in my first 3 yrs in the Corps, as my fourth year rolls to an end and I get ready to do my time in Iraq, I will answer you're question:

If I had to do it all over again and make those first three years 5 times as bad: I WOULD.

There is nothing in this world that could ever make me believe that the USMC isn't worth it. It's worth every long night, holiday away from home, and injury there is. The Marine Corps gives you something no one and no thing else ever could and that is the title of Marine, with that comes a family to stand beside you in any circumstance and sense of pride you could n't put out with a firehose.
