Does anybody know the maximum allowable age for a commission for a prior service Marine with 5 years active duty and a bachelors degree?  Any info would be appreciated!

Potential Marine Corps Officers are young men and women of high moral standards who have or will have a four-year college degree, are physically fit, and have demonstrated potential for leadership. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and pass the initial Marine Corps physical fitness test. Additionally, applicants must take either the SAT, ACT, or AFQT/ASVAB aptitude tests. Minimum acceptable scores are: SAT – combined verbal and math scores of 1000; ACT – 22; and AFQT/ASVAB – 74. The only age requirement is that a person must be at least 20 and less than 30 (waiverable to 35) years of age at the time of commissioning. Applicants for law programs must score a minimum of 30 on a 50-point scale, or 150 on a 180-point scale, of the LSAT.

Other minimum qualification requirements include:

• Minimum of a Bachelors Degree (upon commissioning)
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Age: Between 18 and 28 (no older than age 30 for current enlisted)
• Must Meet Normal Accession Medical Standards
• Must Be Eligible for a Security Clearance (Either SECRET or TOP SECRET, depending on the job assignment)
• High Moral Character.

I've got one buddy who was 32 when commissioned -- but had to go through a huge waiver process. 

Since the Marine Corps is at war, there are a number of different pipeline to OCS, dependent upon when you EAS'd, if you are a drilling reservist, or in IRR status, etc etc etc........  there is no longer "one" stock answer to give to a potential candidate about how to get screened for OCS.

Jonathan P (Green Volunteer) is former enlisted, older, who just graduated OCS and is waiting to class up at TBS.  He would probably be a good person to contact, since he has the most recent experience with various pipelines to OCS, age waivers, etc.

 As KY said there is a waiver available for age (but you must be under 34 by your commissioning) it is considerably easier for prior service though.

Dang...guess me getting my "Butter Bars" at 41 yrs old isn't going to happen.....lol

You tell them Maam, though I am learning for myself that there is nothing more dangerous than a 2LT with a compass... except for a lawyer in a live fire excersise that is!

 

Ahhh... what is more dangerous is a 2ndLt who's "waiting for the word...."

Or pilots trying to drill...

 

What company are you in -- 2 of my best friends are instructors at TBS right now.  And my FAC and one of our LAR Platoon comanders are heading that was next week.  (and I think I'm flying into LZ 7 in December or January)

Funny you should mention the word maam, you will NEVER guess what I am doing right now ... but I think I am only dangerous for the student company billet holders.

I am in the infamous "frozen" Fox, so I am playing with the little red boxes, tomorrow as well!  Along with the other 85% of the company who were lost too LOL

I actually loved Land Nav.... but like everyone else spent more time doing it than I should.  (have you had to crawl through any creeks yet?)

 OK... none of them are Fox SPCs.... but keep an eye out for Capt Jones ... he teaches the CAS package.  THE best FAC I've ever worked with.

My husband was commissioned with 6 years on the enlisted side at the age of 31. He had to get an age waiver. It was not difficult for him. There was one other Marine with him at OCS that had 10 years in and was promoted at OCS (they then returned to calling him candidate) and he was 33. They both finished at the top of their class. 

Find your Officer Selection Officer in your area and ask him. He can give you the proper instruction you will need to to make the choice. This is definately a good time to come back in if you need an age waiver. There is always a need for great officers.

What's more dangerous?   Pilot's who think they are cool and knowledgable...........(We called them "Buster's")

Nothing like listening to a pilot troubleshooting a bird or give advise on how to fix the bird.....The exception was Major Joe "Caveman" Courey, (former UH-1N / AH-1J/T/W Metal Smith, Plane Captain and Crew Chief) 

BTW the oldest I personnally knew to receive a commission was 36 years old, he was a former MSgt.
