Hello, My name is Paul M. Parobek. My father was in the USMC from 4/1968-1971 and Honorably Discharged in 1974.

Out of curiosity, what does make a Marine brat a Marine brat? By societal definitions, I am not one since I was born in 1982, after my father was discharged. However, he always kept the Marine Spirit alive in our house. I was told to refer to him as "sir" and mother as "ma'am" and he always talked about his days (without a lot of detail) with the USMC, and I never felt like I fit in with the regular community. Also, the Spirit of the Corps is "Once a Marine, always a Marine" or "A Marine for Life".  Do these traits make me a Military Brat? I only ask since, like I said, he was discharged before I was born and went to work for the county and feel lost.

     Paul
