    DoD Identifies Marine Casualty


    The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

    1st Lt. Travis L. Manion, 26, of Doylestown, Pa., died April 29 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Manion was assigned to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

    For more information in regard to this release the media can contact the Camp Pendleton public affairs office at (760) 725-5044.

    Rest in Peace Marine.  Lt. Manion was an alumni of my high school and a respected athlete there.

    Joe, thanks for a good article on another "Brother's Boy."  When you read things like this it confirms that not all of us makrel snappers are kumbuyahs today.

    His family lives right up the road from me. I might just pay them a visit in about a month or so.
