    Introduction

    Hi everyone,

I've been kind of a lurker here for the most part, but it's time to step up now.  My son is a LCpl in the reserves.  His unit is being activated and he will be deploying this summer.  He has been married less than a year and his wife has a 3 year old daughter that he is adopting.  Needless to say we are all trying to cope with this, even though we knew it was coming it is now very real.  I'm hoping to get some support and to offer my support in any way I can here.  I want to do some care packages, not just for my son but for his unit and some of your sons too.  Any good ideas you have on things to send (or not send) and is there any way to send Reese's?  I know chocolate will melt, but they are Stephen's absolute favorite and he's already asked me to try and find a way to get them to him. LOL  I will be talking to you all soon and often.

Right now, Tootsie Rolls and chocolate or other flavored Tootsie Roll Pops ( they all have chocolate centers ) stand up in the heat or hard chocolate flavored candies like "CREAM SAVERS" which they will LOVE you for. You can send soft chocolates like Hershey's Kisses, candy bars, etc. to Iraq from November through April. Never combine any food stuffs with products that have an odor ( like soap) even if you take great care to insulate the chocolate or whatever you're sending. By the time it reaches Iraq it will smell like soap or whatever. Thank you to your son for his service!
