    Sharp head pain?!

This is kind of hard to explain but I will do the best I can

Often I have shooting(sharp) type pains towards the back of my head that come and don't last for long and then they are gone..nothing big really, I don't guess. It doesn't really hard too bad but it hurts in that one spot. Well yesterday this happened but it lasted for a little while..an hour or two, then again this morning when I got to work, I had the "shooting pain" ( towards the back of my head on the side kinda..level with the middle part of my ear) and although the shooting pain isn't there right now, my head kinda feel weird..that feeling you get right before or after a headache I guess is how I would explain it. Sorry my descriptions aren't that good.

Anyways my question is..has this happened to anyone else? I'm not sure what it could be. Since this happened yesterday and today I was told by my mother in law and a friend at work that I should atleast go get it checked out. I did call to make an appointment at the Naval Hospital for either Thursday or next week, (these days would be best with my work schedule) the lady said that a nurse would be calling me back to let me know about an appointment and so I could let her know whats wrong and all that good appointment stuff.

Should I be worried? I will also mention, although I don't know if this has anything to do with it...a little over a year ago I fell and hurt my neck and sometimes my neck hurts still, so I was wondering if this could all relate?!

Just any input at all would be great. Sorry I'm kinda scatterbrained..it's hard for me to explain I guess! haha

     Thanks in advance.

    sounds like Migranes.

they can come and go and can leave you with occcational shooing pain, with an after feeling of overall gooky ness. at least mine do. are you close to that time of hte month, thats when mine usually happen.

I also get sharp pains in my head. but mine are mostly on the side of my head. Mine last for about 10-15 seconds and I get one or two amonth. I always have a hard time explaining what it feels like too. Mine are deep inside my head. Not headache or migraine feeling. It feels like its in my brain. I also get occasional sore spots on my head. I've hasd this since I was young. but have never been checked out cuz i'm nervous they're gonna tell me somethings wrong.

Yeah they aren't migrane headache type pains...it doesn't feel like a headache type ache until afterwards..but its not a headache its what my head feels like after I have a headache or something?! I don't know how to explain it.

Most of mine last for about 10-15 seconds as well..maybe 10-30 seconds. On the side of my head towards the back is normally where they are as well. How weird. I don't get the sore spots though. Hmmm that's weird. I wonder what the heck it is.

I get migraines that come on at first with blind spots, where I don't see good and then the pain comes on.. Always one sided pain.. Mine lasts all day!  But I had a very similar experience lately like yours.. It's a very sharp pain that is one sided behind my eye and on my temple.. It was on and off for like 2 weeks.. Dr. coulnd't find anything wrong.. Didn't make me feel any better because I still had that pain. Migraines are different for everyone so it could be it.  Or could also be stress or sinus.

i say could be migrane because you can get migraine without having an actual headache, i get optical migraines all teh time where i will get light sensitivity, an ooky ffeeling, vertigo, but no actual headache, occational head pain like you are discribing, sometimes in my ear area sometimes above my eyes, the sharp pains move around for me, but after a trip to the er i was told i didnt have somthing in my head ( i seriosly thought somting really bad was going on hence the trip to the er) but i was simply having migraine's without the headache, they would sometimes last for days for me. i dont get them as often now that i am off BC but i still get them around that time of the month or if i am really stressed or sick. i only get about one real headachey migrane every few months.

I just had a real bad migraine Sunday night - it was like a shooting pain around the base of my head just before the neck area (I think I am describing that right). Anyways, it never went away..finally I just went to bed and slept it off eventually, but I hate those...especially when the pain gets so severe it makes you sick. ugh! I hope you feel better soon hon!

I've been having something happen that I would say is similar...I've been thinking about talking to the doctor about it.

I think it's from stress, I've noticed if the kids are acting up alot (or something else that I find stressful happens) on that day it seems to be worse.
It goes from right behind my ear (kinda in the middle) to the back of my head and hurts down into the top (where my head and neck meet) of my neck sometimes. The pain fades but leaves an I want to say tingly feeling...I don't think tingly is the right word but it's the only one I can think of.

I get migraines and this is different then a migraine.

I get headache like this too, usually toward the front of my head. I also get what seems like random dizzyness where the room will spin and I have to hold on to something and then like it came, it leaves. It seems like it's real sudden. I've had this for years, but I've never really gotten it checked out. It doesn't happen very often, I think the last time it did was one or two months ago.
