Hahn AFB Germany 1968-74. Dad was TDY to quite a few other bases in Europe and we often went along. We also traveled to England at least twice a year as that's where my Mom was from. In those days we would drive to France and drive onto a ferry that would cross the English channel. Now you can drive right onto a train that goes thru a tunnel (called the Chunnel) under the ocean. It's only a 20-30 min ride now. Dad bought one of those old VW van campers (had a tent that folded off the side) and we traveled all over Europe. One of the most distinct memories is traveling to the old east/weat border and seeing machine guns aimed at us. (as a kid, you remember something like that)

    Rog-O!

Here in Kansas, they couldn't believe where I went in my childhood and in the Service.  I have to bring in photo albums........and then they are kinda in awe and shock.  Here in Kansas a "Globe Trotter" only hits the border states and Texas.....Colorado, Nabraska, Missery, Okie, and Texas! (New Mexico is becoming popular now)
