    Finding Studs....

Satie's post got me to thinking. I have a ton of things I need to hang in my apartment, but I'm afraid to because I don't know how to find the studs. I know there are there somewhere....but where. Is there some trick to finding studs? Or am I better off just leaving it alone until Daddy comes back from California?

If you don't have an electronic stud-finder (you can buy one at any hardware or home improvement center for not a lot of money) try tapping the wall lightly. It will sound hollow between the studs, and will make a sharper sound when you find the stud.

    Hope that helps. Cool

This one at lowes costs around $10......Others can run as high as $60-$80....( It better do the dishes and laundry as well for that much money).....anywho....just follow the directions.....once you slide this on the wall, it will either beep or flash a light....telling you where the stud is......

Once you find the first one, the rest are easy. Most are 16 inches apart, although there are some applications where studs are placed 24 inches on center.

Thank you sooo much! I spent the last hour finding the studs in my wall and hanging up my stuff finally. My neighbor probably thinks I'm crazy because I kept knocking on the wall, oh well, it finally looks like I live in my apartment!

From a proud 14 year member of Steamfitter's Local Union 420, and someone who started this crap by helping my Dad to build our house at the ripe old age of 7, and continuing that tradition by doing everything I possibly can to my house and others, nice job Ma'am. This "guy" will take help and advice from anyone that shares it!

    Diversity !

I made a lot of cakes and cookies as a young teenager, telling the guys my Mom did it, so as to avoid persecution.  Once it got out, instead of causing mischief in the neighborhood, we'd go to our numerous homes and do the same !

Got tired of cleaning all those bowls and pans, so I went into sewing, only because I was in Aircraft Mechanic School, made fabric covers for light planes, and why let good talent go to waste ? !!!

Got tired of all those punctures in my fingertips, so I joined the Marines.

The rest is History, and now...you know the rest of the story !
