As always, I'm looking for fellow Marines I have served with! We all know it can be hard and frustrating to find anyone we have served with in the past. I have found out through the last 8 years on the internet, the best place to look and find them are on a military forum. I asked about it, and Ann said if I start the thread, she will make it a sticky where any Marines looking for others may post here! I have found and made Marine Brothers looking this way and thought it wouldn't hurt to try!! I'm looking for Marines who served in 2/4 H&S Co., in 1979 and especially for the Marines who survived Fuji! Also looking for Marines who served in 3/6 Weapons Co., 1980-1982!!

Close. I was in Wpns (Drgn plt) 2/4 at Fuji. Came in just after the fire. I was there for the big riot though. I was on guard duty that day.

I remember that well! I had not been back long from recuperating in Yokosuka, Japan, when someone came into the hut and told all to grab an e-tool, that there was a riot going on! has to be the same one! You may have been a new replacement. Remember getting ready for that test with the Dragon & 81's?

Re: Looking For Marines ...
I remember the MCCRES (sp?) where the amtrack rolled over into the deep ditch along the road and killed a crew man. We were so short of gear that we were sharing field jackets and had some Marines die of hyperthermia iirc. I also remember long days of gun drills with the M-60 prior to the MCCRES. Seeing as how I was an 0351, being assigned the section MG was a natural lol. Remember 1st Sgt Bingamen? (again, sp?) Used to call us all his "broke dick pig ****ers".

Too bad you missed the beginning. It was awesome! It was nearly 2 full companies, Fox and Echo, iirc. Both were formed up across from each other in near parade formation ranks. Flack jackets, helmets, gasmasks, gloves, all dressed up. Those in the back ranks were heaving big chuncks of the broken retainer wall at each other and the front ranks were all brandishing their e-tools, rack extentions and even big assed screw drivers lifted from the motor T or engineers sheds. Us guards, 10 of us, like tards in our helmet liners, standing there in the middle wondering just how the hell we were gonna survive trying to break this thing up. All the sudden, both companies just charged each other and it turned into a true old school melee. It was wild. The only part of the fighting I remember was me grabing hold of one guy and getting my arm around his neck, him biting my arm and me flinging him into the side of a quanset hut.

Wm. R Miller Jr.:What was the reason for the Riot?
I don't remember!! I do remember we were having alot of fights at the E Club and the Company CO said if we stayed out of trouble and kept the Company free of trouble, he would get us full weekends off! We worked most Saturdays, until then. So we would sneak beer in from out in town and drink in the huts. We were H&S Company, then they switched it to Weapons Company.

Re: Looking For Marines ...
The name sounds familiar, but if it was him I havent seen him since 1982 at Camp Lejeune (working at the Globe)... that would be a trip if it were.

Re: Looking For Marines ...
He is the one, Top!! Says he remembers you! I'll fill you in a little! After Fuji he wised up and re-upped out of the 03MOS and when into public affairs. He spent 11 years on active duty as public affairs -- including two tours in Beirut. His last active duty tour was as a DI at PI. He got off active duty in 1989 then spent another 12 years in the reserves. He was selected for MSgt but elected to retire after 23 years instead of putting on another stripe. He retired in November 2000. His reserve unit was activated Sept. 11 but he was not recalled. He's running a small business in West Chester, PA, and live in Southern New Jersey. He married a former Assistant Commandant's secretary! Said it didn't do much good in his promotions!!

I am always scared to death that I'll run into someone that remembers me from way back then. I was such a dumbass. I doubt I could survive the deluge of embarrassing stories.

Re: Looking For Marines ...
I was a Dragon. I was in a batch of replacements that came shortly after the fire got cleaned up. We were an emergency shipment out of ITS, we went straight from graduation to the trucks to the airport to Japan. You remember a Marine named Robert Yanni? He was an '81. I came in the same replacement load as him. I was the idiot boot that got s**tfaced one night, tried to disassemble the space heater (while it was runing full hot) with a john wayne can opener, got took to see the LT, saluted him, announced loudly that I'd never *** him because he was my favorite turd and then passed out (or so I was told). The part I can vouch for as accurate is that I woke up sitting on the floor next to someone's rack with one wrist tied to the rack frame by one of my boot laces and a sleeping bag thrown over my head. I can also vouch for the fact that I never drank d'absenthe again, ever.

I may remember you!!! I remember Yanni very well!! What ever happened to him? I remember a few of the replacements and I know ya'll had some big boots to fill!! We ended up passing that Gunner's McCress (sp?) test showing the replacements wore the same size boot!!!! Outstanding job!!!! Semper Fi!!

Re: Looking For Marines ...
Yanni was one of the best Marines I ever knew. Me and him used to get into all sorts of trouble. He made Corporal and was at 2Mar Div in an 81 platoon, I forget what battalion. I was in 3/2 at the time. On a deployment, I forget where, he was a section leader and had one of those morons in his section that was common at that time, you know the type...refuses to train, constantly disobeys orders, etc etc... well this particular moron got under Yanni's skin deeply enough that Yanni got himself courtmartialed and discharged over applying some corrective force to the idiot.

Re: Looking For Marines ...
We have found another Fuji Brother!! LCpl Bradley E. Cope, is living back in his hometown of Crawfordsville, IN., quietly. Like the most of us, is having it rough with PTSD. He, too, was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Medal for his actions that day at Fuji! He was given these before he got out of BAMC.
