I read the instructions, but still don't get it

My son left 10/17 for MCRD SD and this is tough!! He is following his dream and I am very proud of him, but God it is tough letting go and know knowing that he is ok. I am amazed at all of you Moms for being so very strong. Please keep my son in your prayers.

Ahhhhh Hon, Hang in there. Welcome to Grit's. You will find the best information and the finest support you will ever get right here. It is great to have another Texas Mom on board. I grew up in Pasadena TX. Your not weak. You just love your son. I tracked my son's plane all the way to San Diego and cried for 2 days :) These Marines know what they are doing and believe it or not....they will take very good care of your son. Your son has decided to become the best of the best. That is a credit to how you raised him Mom. The best thing you can do for you is to keep journal. Write down your thoughts and fears. Write to him daily. Keep it up beat. I used to keep a spiral notebook with me all the time. Whenever I thought about my LCpl I would write to him in that spiral. After a couple of pages....I would send it. They love mail and it keeps them motivated. NO CARE PACKAGES. Try not to write anything on the outside of the envelope that might catch a DI's attention. When your scared or upset....come here and hash it out. We have all walked in your shoes and the compassion you will find here is 2nd to none. This is a Marine forum so the dialogue will be straight forward but I know that as a Texan....you will do just fine with that. Hang in there Mom. Before you know it....you will be sitting in the bleachers at MCRD SD watching the most amazing site of your life. At the top of the Marine Mom's forum is a thread you might want to read. It chronicles several Mom's journey through this. Bootcamp Info You've got a week under your belt. Take it one day at a time. My prayers are heading up as we speak.

Ma'am, he's in good hands. Believe me, it's tougher on you than it is on him. He doesn't have time to think about it like you do. He's "in the zone".[;)]

If you have done your job well, he will fly from the nest and never have to come back. That doesn't mean he won't come back, but if he is complete he'll aways have you in his heart and will fly by the nest now and then to say Hi mom look at me fly.
